Fwoosh Toys/Articulated Icons - A Retrospective

We have a thread about this in General, sort've. Technically it's the 'Articulated Icons' thread. The answer is; we don't know. No one here, staff or membership (so far as we're aware) is connected with Fwoosh in a way to have any more information than anyone else. It's down, like it often has been over the last few years, and that's all we know.

I just found this thread and read it from beginning to end. Wow, what an emotional roll coaster.

I was on RTM from the beginning when Eric G. Myers and Jason Geyer (aka Toy Otter) created and ran it. I came over from the rec.toys.misc and rec.toys.action-figures usenet groups. I was actually "on staff" with RTM for a while, not that I got paid, but it was a fun thing to do during college. One of the things I did was the "Star Trek News" page. I had contact with Mara Hart at Playmates and was getting insider info from Jon Van Citters at Paramount (currently still there, now as VP of Brand Development at Paramount). Sadly, I didn't keep the relationship going, because I'm really lousy at staying in contact with people.

I didn't come to the Fwoosh until much later. I was under the impression that it was a just a site for wrestling toys for a while for some reason, so I avoided it. I joined later, but I tend to post sporadically. Still, I read new posts everyday and always felt that something was missing when it went down. I'm grateful this site sprung up in its place. Thank you to TSI and others that keep this site going.

Thank you to those who shared some of the challenges you have faced/continue to face in your lives. Honestly, talking about these things out in the open is extremely brave. I consider my life to be pretty screwed up, but reading what others are dealing with provides context. I won't go into more details than that, because I'm not that brave.

Sorry to see the Fwoosh continue to crash and burn, but I'm glad people are getting refunds for their Ninja Scroll figures. I don't blame Robo and Veebs for not going into details on any of this when they left. They took the high road, moved on, and are doing their own thing.
