Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

Ya know, they do tend to sound a little desperate with these emails.
Got another one this morning.

Mythic Legions: The Roleplaying Game figures, game items, and much more available now!
The reaction to our Kickstarter for Mythic Legions: The Roleplaying Game has been amazing! Fully funded in under 5 minutes and now sitting at just under 2000 backers and a bit shy of $800k, we are unlocking stretch goals and marching towards more amazing surprises!

This campaign is making waves in both the toy and game markets. We just returned from GAMA, an annual trade show for the hobby games industry, and the reaction to Mythic Legions was unbelievable! So many people are excited to set out for adventure in the Realm of Mythoss - and we hope that YOU will join us by backing the campaign now!

Remember that Kickstarter pledges are not charged until the end of a campaign, so no payment is due now and you can edit your order at any time before the campaign ends. Our campaign ends on April 4, so anything you pledge for today, from gameplay items to new action figures to Combo Packs, you will NOT be charged for until 4/4/26. You can even spread the payments out across 3 months for more flexibility!

In this Kickstarter campaign you can buy whatever you want from the offered items. If you just want figures or only want game stuff, you can do that! The choice is yours and there are tons of great items to choose from.

Use the button below to visit our Kickstarter page for this campaign - and THANK YOU or helping us introduce the Realm of Mythoss to the world!

They made waves at GAMA? No one I've seen covering the show even mentioned them.
Fucking grifter dipshits.

Wasn’t the last email sent on Monday?!
(checks spreadsheet)
Yup… guys… c’mon what are we doing here. At least wait until the following Monday to beg.

Guys…. I’m looking at exactly same numbers you are, you’ve gotten 47 new backers since GAMA, only three of them being retailers (and it being a retail show…) each giving an average of $282, not even a toys All-in.

like look, I know they’re not gonna say “Woof… we miscalculated this one, guys…” but they also didn’t have to send an email.

I'm really not trying to pile on, but I saw they posted pics of their booth at GAMA on FB. The comments were either asking how to buy the figures in the booth or wishing them luck. No questions about the game. And the booth? That same single glass case with the closed core rulebook, one character sheet that had nothing different about it than any other 5e character sheet, and some dice. Their booth was LAYERED in action figures, but according to the post it's a trade show so none of the figures were available to purchase.

No playtest materials. Not even a copy of the book on a countertop for anyone to thumb through. But hundreds of action figures that aren't for sale.

I don't even care if it's a grift anymore. I'm fucking BAFFLED by their approach. It's like the equivalent of guys who think they can land a plane or fight a gorilla, just wildly unearned overconfidence at something they are not even remotely ready to do.

The fact that they brought no gaming materials and a hundred action figures to a gaming show kind of says it all, doesn't it?
I mean, they had a book. Behind glass. Closed.

(I swear to god the average indie author does more work to tailor their booth to the show they're working. Their booth is identical to their toy industry show booth.)

I feel like I'm wasting energy on paying attention to this, but I love TTRPGs, they're a huge part of my life, I love supporting new, indie game designers, and this campaign feels like the equivalent to when someone finds out you're a writer and are like "I have an idea for a book. I bet it'd be a bestseller." And they've never put words to paper.

Have they ever showed it open? Do we even know there's anything in it, or are they literally just showing off the cover because they are arrogant morons?

No man. This is the equivalent of when a celebrity pays someone else to write a fake biography to make them look good and then sells the book entirely on 'look how famous I am' and not 'look how good the book is.'

That's actually unfair to celebrity books because in most cases, the publisher hires an established professional writer with a pedigree in ghostwriting to write the book for them, so even if the book has no substance, someone, somewhere, actually busted their ass trying to make it coherent.

I haven't seen a physical book open but maybe someone else has. I've seen digital images of four internal pages but not large enough text to read.

I mean, they were next to the Squishables booth it’s not like Squishables has a game to sell (unless those giant cuddly D20 were supposed to be used in gameplay?!) so it’s kinda fine their booth was just toys, like if you own a game store and have considered carrying action figures you see their booth lined with toys and think “Whoa! A rack of those would look good in the corner of my store!”

But if the game was never the point. If the point was “maybe we can be sold in gaming stores?” they could have handled the out reach better. If the point was “maybe our IP could be more than just toys? Maybe we could have the brand people license instead of being jobbers working on other brands?” keep dreaming, assholes!

Have they ever showed it open? Do we even know there's anything in it, or are they literally just showing off the cover because they are arrogant morons?

It’s not even a real book, they routinely say it’s just a mock up in video interviews. I kinda want to see what’s inside it to see what kind of mock up it is… vintage cook book with their cover glued on it?! Publisher copy with photo an lorem ipsum for photo layout testing?!?! An actual version of the book they’re still revising?! What is this forbidden tome encased in plexiglass?!??

Probably a printed off list of all the nice things their cult has said about them over the years. That seems about right.

Crucially, that last part. Squishables -isn't trying to sell a game-. The 4H being there with no actual game and a bunch of toys is tacit admission that the game is vapour and they're just trying to sell toys.

YES PLEASE.

I have Sideshow’s 1/6 version and also their large statue of Vlad (this one has been on display for over 20 years and I regularly swap out the human/vampire heads), but I would love a 6inch figure.

But my #1 FO priority is Count Dracula as described in Stoker’s book.
PREACH! I rarely buy 4H stuff, but if they do a Stoker accurate Dracula, I will SO purchase the second it goes up for preorder!

I give the Kickstarter a lot of shit for, you know… not needing to be on Kickstarter, but I saw it sitting at 1,999 and was like “oooh I can be backer 2,000!”

So there you go Horsemen, you got my $250, you were always going to but now it’s official

Yeah, I'm crapping on the TTRPG but I think I'm in for at least three figures, maybe a few more. I'm a goddamned sucker for catfolk , tired old men in armor like the base cleric looks, and I do like the druid head sculpt.
