Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

For a nautical themed wave, I’m a bit disappointed with how few of the human characters look like seafarers. Ironskull is the only one that reads like that to me, though I guess it’s easier to make animal parts than to make new costumed torsos. But the result is kinda TMNT heavy to me, like if you displayed them together you get Noah’s Ark. Not enough human sailors to dilute the animals.

I was hoping they’d use this wave to make some new “cloth” body parts, since heavy armor doesn’t make much sense on a boat. I am excited to see how the baggy pants get reused in the future.

I’m also excited for a 2.0 of the 2.0 body. I’m hoping for a 2.0 Hadriana and an update to the elves. I have a lot of bulky heavies in my collection already, some updated dexterity characters are needed.

Ultimately I think the Imp might be my only pickup. He’d work great as a minion for The Unknown One.

Speaking of TMNT: Mobu, with a small customization here or there, would make a fun Ray Fillet for the Mezco turtles. Several of these guys would also be fun to pair with Baron Bends.

If it helps your sense of verisimilitude at all, it's worth noting that heavy armour was worn in ship-based combat all the time throughout history, right up until armour stopped being a thing. Turns out, the vast majority of seafaring humans couldn't swim, so armoured or unarmoured they'd be dead if they fell in the water.

I enjoyed the PBS documentary series How We Got to Now about the mundane discoveries or inventions that would go on to fundamentally alter modern living. The first episode is about water sanitation completely changing our relationship with water, including swimming.

I'm really impressed with the new sea critters. I don't usually go in for anthro animal characters, but I'm a sucker for translucent plastic parts, the new sculpts are fun, they were smart about their parts reuse, and the paint jobs on the koi fish, mermaid, and crab in particular are fantastic. That being said, they don't really fit into my collection. I love their designs enough that I'm a little tempted to try and make a display space for them on their own, maybe grab the manta just to fill it out a bit. I could even pack that imp into my goblin gang shelf.

Hmmm, we'll see...
