DC Studios Movies and Streaming Series Discussion

I honestly wasn't even sure Supergirl would have superpowers in this movie, so that's something.

I'm not really crazy for hot mess Supergirl, but i get the value in it and can wait and see. But also on my list of things I'm not interested in are □ intentionally dark alien settings, □ another movie about dealing with trauma, and □ Lobo. This movie checks all those boxes.

This movie is obviously not for me, but I like popcorn and get to see movies for free, so I'm sort of stuck.

If not, you are missing out on the absolute best ensemble sitcom on TV, maybe ever.
I don't know what to do with Ace liking something that I also like. I'm not ready.

But, like, I just don’t think potty humor is funny at all
Obviously I do sometimes, and I can't explain why but yeah this one fell completely flat to me, and usually toilet stuff does. I think most times bodily function and sex jokes make people laugh only because they're uncomfortable, but thats not enough for me.

On the other hand y’all would find it very quaint to watch me gut-laughing at subtle social comedy on Downton Abbey.

“HAW HAW HAW Tom Branson implied they were classist imperialists! HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW this is peak comedy!!”
🙃

I am a huge fucking nerd, man. Like pre-tech, pre-Clerks, just total softboy reading Oscar Wilde nonsense.

And yet, I am also trained to kill with my bare hands.

BUT TEA FIRST.

Hey, I've enjoyed the Wilde I have read! I also thought the only funny part on Hall Pass was when the woman with the stomach ache sneezed and splattered brown mess all over the wall behind her. No that's not true; the whole thing with Stephen Merchant at the end was GOLD.

And I have never even *heard* of that movie.
. . . is it a movie?
😬
On paper. It's by the Farrelly brothers (Dumb & Dumber, Something About Mary, etc) with Sudekis and Owen Wilson. Basically their wives agree to a hall pass, where they're allowed to stray in the their marriage for X amount of time and of course shit gets funny! And they all learn a lesson.

But I feel this part from the end is the only part worth watching.

Ha! I’ll bet my wife has seen it.

She recently made me sit through Just Go
With It.
*shudder*

Merchant is great playing that uncomfortable straight man role. I'm sure it's blasphemous around here, but he did it so well on Big Bang Theory for the small bit he had.

And? Did you just go with it?

my pettiest grievance about Superman (2025) and Supergirl (2026):

Krypto is Clark's dog! Kara has Streaky!
Finally someone else said it. I'm not even a fan of the Super characters, and even I know she's got Streaky. I know Gunn is a dog person, but come on- stop giving cats a bad rap. We better see ol' Streaky eventually, and I'll be mad if we get through all the Lanterns stuff- however much of it we get- and there's no Dex-Starr appearance. Gimme my super cats, damnit!

And? Did you just go with it?
I just go with a lot of things.
😇
My wife LOVES Jennifer Aniston, so if she’s in something I’ll probably be watching it at some point.

Definitely would not go with this it again, though. I like a few Sandler films (The Wedding Singer, Punch Drunk Love and Airheads come to mind) but this one was a real stinker. Sandler was particularly unfunny.
