Articulated Thoughts General Movie News & Discussion

Speaking of Marvel......if they plan to do something with their "Young Avengers", shouldn't they get going with that? Because those actors and actresses are now about the age that the original Avengers cast when the first movie hit. Kate Bishop is pregnant BTW.

Completely fulfilling montage, baby!
Completely fulfilling. I'm not even bothered that they invented a problem that could only be solved by making a callback to an event they only told us about. That's just "world building."

I remember many many years back reading about a Fantastic Four proposal that was more modeled after the Beatles' "Hard Day's Night" that supposedly had a semi-comedic sequence of them defeating a bunch of villains while evading their mobs of adoring fans. And in context of the time, that idea kind of works for me. The clip show version that we got in First Steps felt more like how the last Fantastic Four movie repurposed trailer scenes into, like, satellite footage of Ben working for the Army or whatever.

Kate Bishop is pregnant BTW.
I say roll with it. Hailee Steinfeld's Hawkeye is just pregnant in the Young Avengers movie, and nobody even really mentions it.

Or, since Gwenyth seems to constantly forget she's in these movies, have RDJ in a wig playing Pepper, and have no one mention it. Have him play the ghost of Aunt May too. It feels in line to have Peter hallucinating some weird hybrid of Tony and May.

Gwenyth likely has things people can legit criticize her for (I don't know anything about Goop other than what I see on SNL 🤷‍♂️), but I think this one is understandable and/or blown out of proportion. When she comes in for a day or two of shooting they don't tell her what movie it's for. Hell, Yvette Nicole Brown didn't know she was in Endgame until she was in the theater watching it. She knew she had filmed something, but not for what movie or if it was going to make the cut.

It's crazy to me that an actor would film a scene and not know what movie it's for.

Nobody wants a call from their Nana asking why they agreed to be in "Up with Hitler!"

Yeah, I would think that you'd be at least somewhat aware of being in a movie. I can kiiinda understand maybe some of the bigger Avengers movies, since those change so much between script and screen, so maybe you thought you were filming for part 1, but it ends up in part 2, etc., but it seems to be a running thing with her. Not just forgetting she's in a certain movie, but forgetting that she's worked with certain actors. Obviously I don't know the extent of things, or how much she may even be playing into it, and of course I have sympathy for the quickness of it all. Every time she does an MCU movie she misses half a day of skiing!

I firmly think the MCU would be so much better off with MORE Pepper Potts.

But Gwyneth has a "day job" with employees that depend on her that is more fulfilling than being #30 on a call sheet. Make fun of Goop, but she's doing things with her life. And that's great! Point is - she showed up to complete her commitments to a franchise. Doesn't bother me that she no longer pays attention to the franchise to decipher which film it was. Also, the way Marvel works, it does not surprise me actors would film scenes and not know, especially actors who are appearing as favors to the directors.

In my ideal post-Endgame MCU, Pepper, Hope, Scott and Bruce would still be main players. But that's a different thread. :)

That part makes sense. Like Marvel would not want any part of the story getting out, so them not telling Yvette Nicole Brown that the 1970s Army base scene she shot with Chris Evans was from an Avengers movie makes sense. Of course, Robert Downey Jr was in that scene too, so I'm starting to get a little skeptical that she really didn't know what movie she was in.

Just . . . holy fuck.

Devastating and horrifying.
