Animal Warriors of the Kingdom / Spero Toys

Kicking off a thread for this line because I recently got lucky on a huge lot of figures for cheap and am continually impressed by what they've got so far. The lot actually included a couple of duplicates so I'm trying to figure out how to do some head swaps - Spero selling three-packs of heads for under six bucks USD is a BRILLIANT idea to get fans to buy more figures. I wish other lines would do this. I'm a little concerned the head sockets on the new heads look a bit tight though.

Loving the blanks / Ancients even more than the more complex named characters.
 
These figures look really cool, but I don't think I'm gonna get into the line until we get that Elephant.
 
Just since it's a new forum I figured I'd throw up the reminder that if you like these figures - probably make sure you're buying them from BBTS or a reputable retailer of your choice. My experience with Spero directly was literally one of the worst experiences I've ever had dealing with a toy company, and that includes the absolute fuckshow that has been any time Mezo has an issue with a figure which has been almost half of the times I bought a Mezco figure. (They've literally never done a single fucking thing to remedy the issues, for the record.)

To be clear, I don't attribute this to malice on the part of Spero. I just think they absolutely suck at the business/customer service stuff and also don't really seem to -care- that they suck at it, and the guy dealing with that side of things on Jason's behalf seems like an idiot or a liar. Or both. Avoid dealing with them directly at all costs.
 
Any word on the status of this line going forward? Spero has removed Wave Five from their website, which is not great as I had one figure from that wave on pre-order from them that got charged when I ordered some other in-stock items. That could just mean they have decided to stop selling direct and work with places like BBTS, or it could mean that things are on hold due to the tariff situation, or something else. Not many updates on the Facebook page.
 
I was wondering that myself. They updated the kickstarter just a couple of weeks back committing to finishing production this year and addressing the tariffs--I wonder if they pulled Wave 5 from their store to limit how much stock they're committed to fulfilling so they can at least make the kickstarter backers whole. I was thinking about preordering a few figures from that wave through BBTS but holding off because of all the reasons we're all worrying.
 
Spero has had newest waves listed as "sold out" to avoid them being eligible for whatever sale they have currently going on. Maybe they just removed wave 5 so it's not part of their current sale.

Huh. I'm kinda glad I got hooked on AWOK blind because they seem to be a little wonky on the business end. A 25% off sale right after they bumped all their figures by $10 for the base price feels a bit... odd. I bought a BUNCH of their figures back in March or so at the old price because they were significantly cheaper direct than through Amazon or BBTS even with shipping.
 
I have a bunch of these (dozen or so?) - mainly the feline based figures - but would like to get some more as I have taken to kitbashing/swapping the armors, weapons and so on to have it be a bit more common unform "army" like by cat type, rather than individual "gladiator" like.

So I really just want a couple of Wave 5 figs (the female feline, and the bulkier Lion) and then pick and choose some other older releases for parts as I like some of the armors on the non-feline figures.
 
Yeah, I only want a few figures from Wave 5, hoping they hit at retail. The fox pirate in particular is appealing, but I'm always a sucker for a swashbuckling fox character. I actually won an eBay auction that got me a bunch of stuff to kitbash with, so I did a bunch of headswaps and equipment swaps to create new characters. I do like that they offered heads that fit almost all the other bodies for alternate looks ridiculously cheaply on their site.
 
docsilence, I don't think they bumped their figures up. I think they were previously on sale and then whatever sale that was ended the prices went back up to normal. I could be wrong, but I think that's what happened. I got almost all of my figures via their KS though. And then only got a few through the Spero store. Just checking my order from Spero's store. July 2023 order of some wave 3 figures. The individual gold soldier was $35, which is the same price it is now (not factoring in the mix and match sale going on).

Huh. They had zero marketing on their sit about it being a sale - all the normal sized figures were $24.99 for a couple of months then when I went back to get one more they were all $34.99. You'd think they would have done some kind of graphic noting that they were marked down by almost a third of the price. Shocked they wouldn't do the old red-line-through-the-regular-price thing to convince people to buy more while the iron was hot.
