Action Force and Valaverse

Yes. But I am not doing well from this box. My Jango Fetts belt and wire on his right broke off too. Luckily the rest of my Star Wars stuff is ok, for now. And I haven't even opened any of the marvel legends figures yet. I'm almost wondering if the weather is actually partly the cause, since its just so cold right now.

You're not messing with stuff -while- it's still ice cold, though. Right?

No. I am letting them warm up first, and actually use a hair dryer on some really stuck bits. But some of these plastics may just become brittle when introduced to extreme cold and never heat up properly. Or it could just be current bad luck for defects.

The one that irks me most is Hildr. Expensive ass amazing figure just to have the wrists snap after already swapping hands a couple times. I almost threw her across the room. My escape into expensive plastic land shouldn't be that annoying.

I don't know how cold it is where Trunks is having all these issues but I recommend to just leave the figures alone, set them aside for a couple of days and let them heat back up at room temperature. I don't open my figures sometimes for weeks end and I've never had any issue with figures breaking.

I seriously wonder if there's like, some sort of "flash freeze" with the plastic that's doing permanent damage. I just happen to have that Jango right next to me and the belt and wires are really soft, flexible plastic, but I also got him before the winter deep freeze so he never got hit with that deep, deep cold we've been seeing across the country.

And now I wonder if that's why I had my first ever Masterverse breaking right out of the box issue. I've had some stuck joints but never one that just SNAPPED taking it out of the package.

It doesn’t help the articulation on that figure feels off in the first place. Really struggle to get it in a non hunched looked with the mask.

Honestly, Despara is a pretty big miss as a whole

Hot water over air. This includes dryer or just setting it aside. Water disperses the heat evenly. Water is more efficient than air and softens everything uniformly. You can quickly address the issues and let it cool back.

Directed heat via dryer or gun can soften parts, but not the whole. Outside can feel warm and pliable while the inner ring or stud or socket is rigid. That leads to stress whitening or shearing or snapping.

I have most of these figures and accessories and I haven't had a break that wasn't my direct fault since I made water my default opening treatment. Worst case everything is soft so you can sense what's stuck while it's pliable and won't risk a shear or snap.

If something has soft goods stuck to it, like a Mezco or unremovable cape, you can seal it in a ziplock and press the air out and let it warm over like that.

The only figure I've ever had an adverse treatment with is the Quinn Lee. Heat expands also, so it also helps things loosen. That figure tightened up because the joints are already very tight, so it expanded into itself. But once I see it aside, it was fine.

I do it with everything at this point. I've had enough breaks. Just part of the ritual.

Well usually I don't have anything break. Which is odd. I try to be careful and take care of my stuff. And this whole box was left out in the cold when this shit started hitting 0. I didn't get it for at least an hour and it was going through the system on trucks and shit before that. I don't like using water. It gets in all the cracks and joints and takes forever to dry. I also wanna point out that 2 of the things that broke were, in themselves, hard ass fuckin plastic. The sawed off definitely is, but it broke right at the joint. And the wrists are also, but the thin tab holding the ball on is why the Bandai Power Rangers were breaking as well. I had at least 3 different ones break those same type of wrist joints. I have other imports with the same joints and they work just fine. So maybe if the plastic isn't good enough, it won't hold. The Xesray figures have also had tons of breakage problems in the past. So I think Hildr is a mixture of those things. The shotgun puzzles me, it shouldn't have broken. And the Jango wire is probably the design, but the belt is like... why? It snapped right at the spot where the fake loop hook is for the right side. The only thing I can think of is it got too cold and I moved it wrong, or it got too cold before and just didn't expand properly when it got warmed up. And again, these all came out of the same box that was in this cold ass weather. But I made sure they weren't frozen when I opened them, I waited at least 4 hours before opening ANYTHING. Hildr was actually fine out of the box. She broke 2 days later just trying to do a photo shoot. The Shotgun also was at least 3 or 4 days after opening it. And it never left Franks hand since I put it in there. I even glued it back together still in his hand lol. What's even weirder is I have the shooting effect coming out of the barrel, and those have really thin hard plastic pins. That shit didn't break. Thats where I thought it would break if it broke anywhere, but those were fine. So why did the thicker piece right near the joint break instead?

So... Worried about opening my XMen now...
