3.75" Battlestar Galactica

Despite the price, I'm still tempted by it. They must be planning on selling figures individually later. Certainly people will want just one figure to pilot the Viper. Or want multiple Cylons. In fact, they probably should have had a few options for multipacks of the figures. Human 3pk. Cylon leader with 2 normal Cylons. etc

I asked them on Instagram about whether figures will be offered individually later. We'll see if they respond.

Someone on another board I frequent emailed Factory Entertainment asking about other options. Apparently they sent back a response to keep an eye out for Entertainment Earth and BBTS. Take what you will from that for now.

I'm with all you guys — I shouldn't be dropping $220 on this — but it looks really great and I have a feeling I'll regret not grabbing it. I've been hoping for this since I was like 7. Maybe I'll do a bit of an eBay purge this weekend to make myself feel better about it.

And I hope you guys are right on the single figures. Although I still have some 25th Joes or a maybe a Joy Toy figure that can volunteer as a substitute pilot ...

Well, BBTS just put up the Viper with Boomer for $250. And the other 4 figures as a set for $120. Price ends up being the same as BBTS, but I paid $10 more for shipping than I would from BBTS. Put the $75 down payment at Factory. BBTS wants a non-refundable deposit of $37 for both items. I suppose I could try and cancel my factory preorder, but there isn't enough savings to do so. I do think the figures will be available as individuals down the road. After they've gotten enough people to commit to the sets.

Oh and the figure packaging says "wave 1" so they theoretically have other waves planned or at least possible.

I almost posted this morning that I was surprised they didn't bundle Boomer with the Viper and price it at $250.

I am surprised they aren't selling the Cylons individually yet however.

I preordered the Viper from BBTS. I'm unsure about the figure set. I would've bought Apollo and Starbuck singles, but they were sold out by the time I ordered.

Well, that $250 keeps me from getting the Viper, and I don't collect 1:18 so I guess I'm saving some money. Loved this show as a kid though, and wouldn't mind seeing a 1:12 line down the road at some point.

To summarize:

They claim that sales have done better than expected, and plans have started for a second wave.

Cylon Centurion 3-pack exclusive at Factory Entertainment in the future.

Also they asking collectors for recommendations of the next 4 figures - and noted they are working on female figure.

I wish I could afford these.
I wish I could afford what's coming next.

Oh and they teased a Star Trek TOS bridge set in 1/18th scale! to be shown at SDCC and due in 2027

I'm in for at least a Centurion. I could def use a couple Colonial Pilots too; but I don't need a whole display collection. Neither show was really all that great on the scifi meter.

Its production design and effects were pretty impressive for 1978, but the story/writing was of its time (especially as the whole "aliens had come to Earth and inspired ancient civilizations" thing was hot at the time) and not too many shows were doing long term storytelling or working on complex characters, and of course it wasn't trying to be "hard" sci-fi like Trek was (or tried to be). But I still remember a lot of the bigger stories so it made an impression on me - I know I watched it every week (although I struggled with Galactica 1980)...

Im in for the BSG collection. Those Vipers, Raiders, Cylon Centurions and Colonial pilots are completely embedded in my brain from me thinking the show was awesome when I was a kid (if that makes any sense lol). I can't get through the show now in my "adult" years though, it's pretty terrible. What's funny is that I love the reboot/modern series, but have absolutely zero interest in toys from it.
