2026-2027 Rumor/Leak List - New Year, New Thread!

The Blue and Gold era in the mid-2000s (or whenever that was) was absolutely some of the worst, most boring, needless comical that I ever have read. Man, that era of books was rough.

I'm trying to think of what book it was when Juggernaut joined the team and wore the black and gold outfit. Ugh, that book was shit.

Yeah, like almost every other "new direction" the X-Men take, I popped my head in at the beginning of "Gold, Blue, Red........pretty sure there was a Green....." eras, and quickly tapped out. I remember at one point they were killing off characters unceremoniously every issue. Did the writers know Krakoa was coming up next and that they were going to do the whole resurrection thing so may as well add some shock value? I don't know. It was just bad.

I will say Gail Simone's run has been holding my attention so far. It's a healthy mix of characters you know and love, acting in character (always nice) with some new characters thrown in who are pretty endearing so far. Not bad.

I'd certainly take a more modernized version of that old Toy Biz Lockheed pictured over what Hasbro keeps giving us with Kitty. I might have to see if I still have that old one somewhere.

As far as Magik herself, that one Hasbro has released about 3 different times is one of my favorite Legends figures. I think that's a modern version from The Last Will and Testament of Charles Xavier from the early 2010s. I'm sure that we could get a better figure, but I'm also relatively happy with that one and I do believe that it was just recently re-released. However, if they're really planning on releasing a Cannonball/Cypher in a New Mutants costume similar to what they did for Sunspot in the X-Men '97 line then I'd expect Magik in something more similar to that look.

I maintain that Rachel is a gay woman.
Could one of these be the rumored version of Magik we might see soon?

Speaking of bi gals...

I'd be so mad. I like both costumes, but come on.

It was perhaps out of left-field for Rachel, who (as far as I can remember) had only ever really had a relationship with Franklin Richards prior to this.
There's a lot of subtext with Rachel and Kitty over the years, most heavily in early Excalibur as I recall, but I'd have to go hunting for pages.

And in one of the future timelines Claremont wrote where (IIRC) Kitty is president, Claremont has said her kids were supposed to be hers and Rachel's.

Claremont's last run of X-Treme X-Men books heavily, HEAVILY implied that Rachel and Kitty were an item. It may have even said so outright, I don't recall......

I really wish Marvel would let...a different sort of person have editorial control of X-Men for a change. I'll never get over the tragedy of Beau DeMayo turning out to be a creep. We could have had it all...they replaced him with a Swiftie...

You all are right. Apparently this morning I was blanking on almost the entire history of Rachel Summers. Minor objection withdrawn.

X-Men Red was actually pretty solid. Gold and Blue were... not, though I remember thinking better of Blue after they briefly replaced the O5 with a bunch of oddball characters, like Bloodstorm. Green came a bit later, and was an "Infinity" comic, but it was (like pretty much every Infinity comic I've ever read) pretty tedious.

I liked X-Men Red from that era. It was the first book (adult) Jean was back in, and even though Tom Taylor wrote her a little Team Mom-ish for my taste and didn't do enough with the cast (I don't remember Namor or Gambit doing anything of note the entire time, but it's been a while) it was way better than Gold. Blue was okay. More mid than bad, but definitely not good.

That "Someone New Dies Every Issue!" run was Matthew Rosenberg's Uncanny X-Men, which while I guess is notable for having Kwannon join the team after being separated from Betsy for real, is probably the worst comic run I've ever read! I do think he knew Krakoa was coming immediately afterward, so he was very cheap and tacky with deaths. He had Wolfsbane get beaten to death by a gang of frat boys.

Yes, "cheap and tacky" is definitely an accurate description.

I have yet to see a Disney firing that I am happy with. He did a great job on the show. All I know is that he had some shirtless online pics that Disney didn't like........what else about him made him a "creep"?
