Subject rose in the ranks after Rexford Lewis took office. Already considered an effective agent as an investigator, interrogator, and torturer, subject became part of a cadre of former Cobra agents to fill in as Lewis shrugged off or alienated some of his core allies in the past, fearing their ambition, concerned about their loyalty, or in the face of international law (as many of his chief allies are either not American citizens or actual international war criminals). Since Lewis took office, Interrogator has been the lead investigator into former GI Joe member activity. Lewis has been known to attend some of Interrogator's torture sessions to see him in action.

"Interrogator is a cartoon example of what the job entails. I myself am not above a bit of torture, professionally or recreationally, but one must understand that the trick to it is to make the recipient feel like you do not want to hurt them. You need to give them hope so they will give you what you want. Interrogator wants to hurt them and frequently goes beyond the requirements of the job. Like most psychopaths, he can be charming and disarming, but he is a monster in a modulated mask. He is on a short list of men I do not intend to allow to live after I leave this hellish place."
 
Great job of making him clearly unsettling, even to his supposed allies. I love seeing the villains, but also kinda appreciate the slow trickle.

Thank you. That magazine cover took the longest of all of it but I really felt it was worth taking the time. I finally realized I need to incorporate something from their post-Joe lives in there, duh.

Subject was acting first sergeant for the GI Joe Unit at the time of Lewis's inauguration. One of three Joes Lewis ordered detained immediately upon taking office - the administration's plan was to quietly disband the unit's roster and monitor the men for insurrection with the intent to make any subversive act look unprovoked in order to paint the former Joes in the poorest light possible, and Hauser was one of the men he most feared free. However, Hauser made the first move, creating a distraction at the Pitt enabling someone from the Joes team - attributed to Abernathy but most likely with the assistance of the Joes cyber operatives - to destroy as many files as possible and allow Abernathy himself to avoid arrest and subsequent trial. Hauser appears to have knowingly allowed himself to be captured and remains under the highest level of security. He is currently at the disposal of Dr. Mindbender, who believes Hauser can be used to create the next stage of the Fred program.

"For the record, I had intended to sacrifice myself so the rest of the command team could get away, but Duke beat me to it. He always had a way of taking one for the team before someone else could jump on that grenade to save HIM. Regardless, he's the reason 'Lewis' is using kid gloves with our guys now - Duke raised so much hell on the way out those ex-Cobra goons don't want to kick the hornet's nest again and see what we'll do next. We know where they have him, though, and we've got a squad preparing to go get him.
