Hasbro possibly doing Tron?

I backed it. I know it is way overpriced, but the figures look great and I want it. But there is no way his funds at 10k backers, so it doesn’t really matter anyway.

The Legacy designs are not appealing to me, I barely remember the movie. The crowdfund should have been 1:12 and normal release.

Not an expert here, but these all seem like bad decisions…

Curiously, I am not interested in a line from the original Tron (I never liked the visuals), but from Legacy, bring it on! The figures look fantastic honestly, likenesses are great and the figures look well articulated. The Lightbike looks really cool too, and the fact that Quorra is coming (hopefully in the same assortment), kinda seals the deal for me. As long as these are priced normally, I may end up getting the full line. If not, I'd at least get Sam, Quorra, Flynn, and the bike. I'm honestly surpriced at hasbro's efforts here, they did good, at least for Legacy. That movie never really got good figures, so I'm happy they doing this.

I feel like the hobby has gotten weird that five 1:18 scale figures and a couple of small vehicles could even be considered viable at $250 set.

I feel like the 6in line most likely will draw away backers from the 3.75in line. If all we had for Star Wars was Vintage collection, I'd probably collect those. With a property with as small a fanbase as Tron, much less ones that WANT figures, I feel like this makes the Indiana Jones Adventure series look like a powerhouse.

I will say this, during the livestream they specifically referred to the Legacy wave as “the assortment”. Like, “Quorra will also be in the assortment.” They never said wave or series. I could be reading into it too much, but this might just be one wave.

But I do feel there is enough there for at least one more wave:

Wave 2:
Castor/Zuse
Gem
Jarvis
White robe Kevin - only because it is SO ODD to me that they specifically chose his look from the End of Line Club scene.
And maybe an army builder of some of the guards

And then maybe some offshoots like:
Civilian clothes Sam with motorcycle
Civilian clothes Quorra

We also need an orange lightcycle.

But again, I wouldn’t be shocked if one wave is all we get.

About half a day and only 600 backers? Zero funding chance, imo. That's astonishingly low.

Literally just checked and thought the same thing. No way. It might get a decent bump from places like Big Bad, but 10k was too lofty a goal.

Not to pile on, but why produce figures from one film in 1:18 and its sequel in 1:12? If a collector wants to build a collection from all three films (Ares pending in a 1:6 scale I guess) its not crazy to think you might want them to be the same scale.

I really hope they plan on doing a wave of 6 inch figures based on the first movie and this is all just the beginning, but, this is Hasbro we’re talking about, so who knows?

I think the designs from the original movie are iconic. Sequels just seem like generic sci-fi armor people. But I’ve never even liked the original movie. Always puts me to sleep. Like Dark Crystal. I can appreciate the design work, but the movies are so boring.

Splitting scales is weird for an essentially unproven brand for toys. Haslab is way over priced.

Happy to see that the Tron Legacy figures are six inch scale. I’ll probably get all of those, depending on the price.

I would honestly be very surprised if they're planning any more at this point. If either push does well, maybe, but otherwise I doubt it. It wouldn't surprise me if Tron was a part of the re-up with Disney. Like a bonus license just to see if they could make something with it. I think this is basically Indiana Jones but with shorter legs.

I just don't think there's actually that many people who are a) Tron fans, who are also b) action figure people, who are also c) willing to pay the current market price for these. I think the fandom being served here is a subset of a subset. Cool that we're getting 1/12 at all, and I might pick one up, maybe, but at the end of the day Tron is one good film's worth of stuff stretched across two films and one cartoon's worth of tech demos. Reviews for the new movie aren't great either and I'm not surprised, the trailers looked increasingly boring.

I really don't get why they didn't just do the OG Tron figures at 1/12? People would kill for those characters at 1/12, they'd fit into Kingdom Hearts displays as well, and it's not like 1/12 Light Cycles would be that hard or expensive to do. They're small hollow blocks. If they made any larger vehicles, then it'd make sense to be a smaller scale.

And assuming we go MSRP for the figures themselves ($17 for TVC), that's $85 for three figures... and $175 for TWO fucking bikes and a black box to stand your figures on. Whatever Hasbro is smoking to be this disconnected from humanity, I want some of it.

Well here we go:

Tron:

684 / 10,000 (first day) 6.84% of funding goal with 45d 18h left.

So far it is tracking as I expected. Not anywhere near enough backers in the first couple hours to make me think this thing funds. On top of that there are no tiers to try and goose interest so what we see (for now) is what we get and I don't think enough people are interested.
