General Marvel Legends

I get that man...truly. This hobby is just getting too expensive, so I have to really pick and choose which figures I TRULY want. Back when these were $20 a pop I'd likely have gotten most of the wave, but now it's just too damned much for me to get more than a couple.

Yep. I love Constrictor and Absorbing Man. Couple of my favorite Marvel villains, really. But I can't do it. And I've been wanting the New Mutants for basically as long as I've been seriously reading comics, but man ... those three and Falcon will be one-twenty. That used to be six figures, plus usually a BAF.

Yeah. There was a time when a series of reveals like this would have me going 'okay, so 80% of those are definite buys because they'll look great in the collection and/or replace a figure that's showing its age.' Now my reaction is that there is one figure - and it's a figure that's been top three in my wishlisting for at least 5 years now - that is a definite buy. Everything else is a conditional 'maybe I'll get that.' And even that is only another couple of figures.

There's no more universe building for me. No more buying full waves. No more caring about minor improvements to something I already have. Those days are gone.

The character selection is, ironically, actually closer to my taste than it was back when I did buy everything. I can't believe there's a figure of Phantom Rider and I haven't bothered getting him yet.

Ditto.

I feel like I waited a long time, for instance, for a real focus on '90s stuff. We've had tons of that which I've just entirely skipped because building even a small team of 6 characters is like 230 Canadian dollars now and that just seems insane to me. I really want Phantom Rider, but every time I look at that 38 CAD price tag I'm just like... nah.

I don't really need any of this. It mostly shows how cheap legends is getting.

Falcon- If any figure needed to be on a Vulcan type buck, this was it. I would like a better looking Falcon, but I suppose I will get this one when it is clearanced.

Magic looks the best, but her hip engineering is terrible when her legs go out to the side there is a huge gap for no reason.

That Daredevil buck looks awesome, but it is in the secret wars vintage toy deco, that serves no use for me.
I preffer My Hobgoblin wave figure.

Constrictor looks ok, but prefer the Terrax wave version.

Absorbing man, looks ok, but no power parts, and might be a little small. Interesting(cheap) reuse of parts here. I prefer the BAF.

Archangel, Prefer the previous Deluxe version.

Onslaught, Prefer the BAF.

The Black Widow Quicksilver 2 pack has Ross Written all over it. That Widow body might be good for customs, to upgrade all of the Shrieks laying around for fodder.

Maximum thor, looks -eh. Not very maximum looking. Not my Thor. Throg not woth $55+.

Villains 2 pack, not familair.

Maybe before I'm dead they will release some of these figures better done in the deco I want. Obviously they will be released again, but in a form worth buying to me, 🤷‍♀️

Not sure how Thor isn't 'Maximum' enough -- within the confines they've created for what qualifies a figure as Maximum. If you want to argue that no ML figure yet made is worth the Max asking price, well... I'd probably agree there.

So many reveals! I'm definitely in for pretty much everything.

Secret Wars wave 2 looks great. Falcon, Magik, Constrictor are perfect. Daredevil will finally be easy to buy, finally on his own. Can acetone the black trim off. Absorbing Man looks fantastic, but I agree that at least one alternate arm would have been welcome. Spidey is dumb.

'97 Archangel looks slick. I don't love those wings, but I'll take the figure regardless. Retro card Onslaught is great. Kinda wish they went with a retro card recreating the Onslaught sub-line instead (the line with Apocalypse, Jean, berserker Wolvie).

Crossing Widow/Quicksilver? That's out of left field. I'll take 'em, but I don't understand why they'd be paired. Why not Wanda and Pietro?

Muse and Bullseye is also a surprise. They'll hang out with the other most modern versions of Daredevil and Elektra that are out.

Maximum Thor. I couldn't ask for more.

Just Thor and Magik for me.

I'd pick some of the others up on clearance, perhaps. But I've really cut back on Marvel Legends these days.

Here you go:

Which one and where from? Throg is about the only thing I want from this reveal.

JK, I'm down for Magik.

Besides that.....lots and lots of reuse in this reveal.
TSI answered, but I really love this Throg. Very dynamic and perfectly in scale.

Not overly expensive. The "exclusive" version has shinier armor.

Thor - Was hoping for classic costume Thor. This version is good but not my favourite. Nice to have a wired cape, but the rest is kind of "meh" for a Maximum offering. Throg is nice but I wish he wasn't just a slug figure.

Archangel looks good. I have the recent X-Force version and the previous deluxe Archangel. I'm hoping the heads can swap from the previous deluxe and this new one. The wings look to be just the outer set from the recent X-Force release and the little "tuning fork" piece for his back is a nice tough. Not sure he looks all that much better but I know it is the cartoon look, not the comic look.

I had the Onslaught from before so this is nothing new, except maybe a bit better paint and the Retro cardback. I'll see if I can get one on sale. If not I won't lose any sleep over it.

I know the rumour was Wanda and Vision from "The Crossing" storyline. However was anyone asking for any figures based on "The Crossing?" Especially Black Widow and Quicksilver? Easy pass.

I only know Muse from the Daredevil show, but the look and creepiness of the character is attractive and this look for Bullseye is pretty good. I'll probably preorder it just because it is a Pulse exclusive and hope I come to like it more once in hand.

Secret Wars wave:

Spidey - "Meh" but I am glad they tried something a bit different than the another standard costume with maybe a slight change (and yes I know some will consider this look a standard costume with a slight change).

Falcon - Nice classic look so I'll be keeping an eye out for him.

Daredevil - Great looking figure and nice to see him on the articulated buck. My only issue is the black lettering and belt. I still want a figure of DD in the all red.

Magik - Probably one of the highlights, if not the highlight of the stream. Great classic look for Magik and nice to see another original New Mutant look being offered. Also interesting to hear Dan mention another New Mutant is coming this year. I'm not collecting the New Mutants, but definitely a great offering.

Absorbing Man - Talk about mixed emotions. This is a great update to a figure that sorely needed updating. Unfortunately I am disappointed that they went with just a straight up unpowered look for Absorbing man. I know, I know, they'll give us another powered up version down the line. Also I assume we'll see the Wrecking Crew sooner or later now that they have Thunderball's wrecking ball accessory they can use from Absorbing Man.

Constrictor - Now we're talking. A much needed update and another addition to the Serpent Society. Keep em coming Hasbro.

I suppose it's just because it didn't look that great to me. It would have to look really good since that isn't the Thor I care about, and it just looks allright. If it is made well and doesn't fall apart, I suppose by Hasbro's deffinition of Maximum it would meet or exceed that.

That picture is old. I have Hairball. Bought a package of small cats off Amazon to get him.
I meant as an actual release from Hasbro. I have considered something like that as well, especially now that the team is almost done and I can't quite see where Hairball might appear, unless they decide to release Zabu as a standalone at some point.

Damn just one new character in Muse.

Falcon & Magik are the standouts.
Not a fan of the black on Daredevils outfit. Bummer, but I know that’s how they did the original.

Absorbing man is boring without any pieces that depict his power

I would say the format is just 'premium elements,' right? More hands than ML figures get, extra accessories, effect parts, a slug, two heads with three faces, AND a wired cape. To be entirely fair to Hasbro - that is definitely way more than even a deluxe figure gets. I don't think they view the figure itself as needing to be any more premium in any way. It just needs to be a standard ML figure but with a ton of extra stuff. And it does have that.

Now.. is all that stuff actually worth the Max. asking price? In my opinion? No. Which is why I told them to fuck off with the previous Max. offerings and probably will again with any future ones. But they've got my dead to rights here. Thor is top 5 or so favorite Marvel characters for me, and this is my favorite look he's ever had. But if this were like.. Classic Thor? Easy pass.

Also.. if anyone just wants Throg and doesn't mind paying shipping, we can chat. I have no interest in Throg.
Nevermind... that went quick.
