Playmates Vintage Rereleases

At least (in my defense) I didn't actually own it as a kid. I'm sure kid me would have figured it out playing with it. I just got it for the first time about 10 years ago and decided it would make a better Neutrino car even if it had wheels so I just hung it up and there it has stayed. Looks much better now with the wheels folded under!
 
I guess since I included a vintage Playmates figure I’ll stick this here, but wanted to share that I finally checked out the faux manhole cover the town of Dover, NH installed last year commemorating the creation of the TMNT. If you got the NECA Kevin Eastman figure then you got a small replica of the same. I considered bringing Kevin, but it felt weird to not have a Peter to pair with him. I could have brought my original Leonardo, the first TMNT toy I ever got, but how many people bring Classic Rock Leo?

I had it preordered, but the card I had it ordered with had to be cancelled, so when they emailed to update the payment method I cancelled it. I DO have to cut back on purchases, and that just had to be one of the things to go.
 
To those of you that have Ollies in their area, I was in one today and they had the vintage re-release of the Pizza Thrower vehicle that was being sold at Target a while back, and it was only $19.99.

The Ollies that I was in had quite a few of them, and they were with all the TMNT Mutant Mayhem toys that Ollies has out for the Holiday Season. Ollies always gets in way more toys around Christmas and usually has a bunch of them displayed in the store away from the main toy aisle. So, check both the main toy aisle, and find the big Christmas toy display wherever they have it set up.
 
Did Chrome Dome and Scale Tail ever really hit hard?

I thought there were a few other retro releases teased at Toy Fair. I would’ve expected a retailer exclusive four pack by now given that was almost a year ago.

I've certainly never found them, or Antrax. But I have seen people post pics of Chrome Dome and Scale Tail on Facebook. I don't know if they got them online, in the US, at retail, or what though.
 
Just picked up a Foot Cruiser from Amazon, and thinking about a second one even though I absolutely have no room for it lol

Question for those who have one (or the vintage), because the last time I held one was 30 years ago...is there enough space under the dash to put taller figures in the seat? For example, if I wanted to customize one for a 6 or 7" Joker figure, is there enough leg room under there or would I have to start cutting plastic to make room?

I know the car itself would be out of scale to the figure, but that would be part of the charm lol
 
I found Scale Tail and Chrome Dome at my local Wal-Mart. I picked up Scale Tail. He looks great. It seems they added all the paint apps of the original, nothing held back like some of the previous vintage re-releases.

Chrome Dome looked great too, but I have the vintage Chrome Dome. Scale Tail is one of the very few characters I didn't have from the vintage line. I'd love to find Antrax as well. Anyone seen Antrax in the wild?
 
Apparently Playmates is doing a box set of the final (probably) re-release figures? Of course they include Scale Tail...but no Chrome Dome.

Probably easiest to buy this than hunting the singles down, assuming those are still planned to hit shelves. No telling now.
 
I bet they have more reissues coming. They have all of 2026 plus some bleed over time into 2027 to clear out inventory. This seems pretty standard for them where they release a line to Walmart or wherever as singles then offer bundles to other places, sometimes in reverse order.
 
Strangely, the one I want most from that bundle (Scale Tail, Wyrm, Antrax, and Usagi) is Usagi, because I actually had him as a kid. I have no attachment to the rest because they came out after I stopped collecting TMNT. They weren't figures in waves that were available when I was collecting either. Like, I missed out on Muckman, Wingnut/Screwloose for instance, but they were on cardbacks of figures I had, so I was after them as an adult. But I'm mostly only aware of Wyrm and Antrax because NECA got around to them. Otherwise never heard of them. Scale Tail is one I didn't even know existed. Also strangely, I did have Chrome Dome as a kid, but hated how out of scale he wound up being after seeing how huge he was in the cartoon. So I'm not really after him now.
