Wrestling Toys (Mattel WWE, Jazwares AEW, etc.)

Looks like it'll be a minute before all the female elites have nice ball joint waists.

(I cringe seeing flesh tones painted over black like this, Mattel will never do it right, it's going to look bad 100% of the time)

The basic woman are a pain for me to find in store. I've seen Jade at Target and Walmart, but I've never seen a basic Tiffany. I just looked on Amazon, the only Tiffy is $49.95, released about 2 or 3 months ago in a series with Wendy Choo, who I've also never seen. Earlier this year, I asked the woman stocking toys at Wal-Mart if I could open up the case of Main Event she had on her cart. I was going to get Lyra and Sid. Neither figure was in the case, they shorted the women's figure and the old timer.

While looking through boxes, I found this Ultimate Warrior squeezy spitting water head.

The situation with the basic women has gotten absurd. When Main Event Tiffany is still commanding those prices despite having an Ultimate out there, that's crazy. The thing that makes it worse is that Ringside doesn't really seem to want to buy a bunch of cases of the Main Event waves just for the single female figure in them, because that likely means they'll be sitting on a ton of basic Roman and Cody and Jey that would move at Walmart but not on a collector site. I wish Mattel would offer online retailers some collector-oriented Main Event cases with higher quantities of the women, Legends, and first-time figures that collectors want.

I managed to get the Wendy in the nightmare gear off Ringside and I'm thrilled about that, but I still need the chase. I keep missing Kelani Jordan at retail, and I know getting Sol Ruca's gonna be the biggest pain when the wave with her figure drops.

It's funny how both Barbie and WWE have the same sales approach, and same collector approach. Just a little tangent but for years people like me have bought the "Made to Move" Barbies for their articulated bodies, then bought the cheaper $7-10 Barbies for their heads to swap onto the bodies. Unfortunately with WWE, things like First Time in the Line Basics goes hand-in-hand with Hot Wheels First Editions, something people collect and/or scalp. And any wrestler who runs the risk of not getting an Elite sells fast, too. So this is where "collectible" lines go to die; it's not like dolls where people just buy what they like. This is why the value, what we get "bang for our buck" is so bad with boy-targeted, licenses action figure lines (obviously licensing fees hitting value too). Things don't have to be good to sell, they just need to hit a few checkmarks to entice the right people.

Anyway, tangent aside, finally saw some pics of Ultimate AJ Styles Greatest Hits and he looks solid enough:

Might pick him up, only one new head is a bummer but at least it's a cool one. I really like these vests with the cloth hoods, but even moreseo I like the sleeveless cloth goods shirts so it's disappointing to not get one here.

BTW...I thought "Greatest Hits" were all rereleases....has this been released before or am I wrong about Greatest Hits?

Just got the RSC Unsanctioned Joe Hendry. Here are some comparisons with WWE Trick Williams, AEW Kazuchika Okada, and my WWE Elite-style Joe Hendry custom that's been 45% done for like, a year. He comes with a base that plays his theme song with the push of a button, which is hilarious.

Man, I wish I could get excited by their efforts, but Tom over at Ringside is not very good at his job.

There's something very soft looking to the sculpts of their releases. The Demolition figures they just put out are dogshit with the painted on straps, and doughy faces. Joe here also is rough looking, the smiling face in particular looks nothing like him.

I'd say I would really like to see them tackle Raven--but at this point, I'm good. Let someone else do that.
 
I'm confused. What's an unsanctioned figure? Is this Ringside just being the next toy store to step in the ring and decide they also want to make their own product? And they managed to get Hendry to sign an independent deal with them for his likeness?
