When I was 10, I used to watch The Untouchables and Dangerous Liaisons every weekend.
We watched Goodfellas in high school when my film buff buddy convinced our teacher he could take a few classes off by rolling it. The principal stopped by while they were stabbing.
I'm the weirdo who thought Goodfellas was kinda meh (look, not all my opinions are gonna be good). Untouchables is solid.(I know, you’re gonna say Goodfellas instead, and I forgive you)
Ooooooh solid choice. But the BEST gangster film is Miller's Crossing.
I love a true hench, and Gabriel Byrne is the truest hench of them all.Ooooooh solid choice.
Ha! Well, like you said, it's an opinion. And same with mine.I'm the weirdo who thought Goodfellas was kinda meh (look, not all my opinions are gonna be good).
I actually enjoyed Untouchables, but I don't find it too rewatchable.Untouchables is solid.
I don't think it's the best, but it's REALLY fucking good. I always appreciate Coen dialogue, but especially when they create their own slang. And it's SUCH a beautiful film, with really wonderful and flawed characters, and so many lines I'm aching to use. Anytime I meet someone named Tom, I can't wait for a chance to say "Jesus, Tom," just hopefully not after he's hit me in the face with a chair. But the BEST gangster film is Miller's Crossing.
If nothing else, this line goes super hard and nobody can deny that.“He pulls a knife? You pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital? You send one of his to the MORGUE. That’s the Chicago way. And that’s how you get Capone.”
You know me well. Honestly not a genre I like that much.I, uh, don’t know what to say to that, since it’s the best gangster film of all time . . .
(I know, you’re gonna say Goodfellas instead, and I forgive you)
Ultimately not what the best ones are about though.I'm not a fan of mobster movies. I just don't appreciate the attempt to display any of them as a sympathetic hero.
You might be right. But that's at least what Casino and Reservoire Dogs are about. And Sopranos, I think. Scarface. Goodfellas.Ultimately not what the best ones are about though.
One of the big reasons I love The Untouchables: good may be dumb, but evil is evil.I'm not a fan of mobster movies. I just don't appreciate the attempt to display any of them as a sympathetic hero.
