Georgia also flipped two statewide public service commission seats from R to D, first time a seat flipped since 2000 I think. R still holds a 3-2 majority on the commission but that's a BIG thing in GA. VA also picked up 12 D seats in their house for the largest D majority since 1989.

Starting to understand why a lot of the top officials of the regime are moving to military bases. Mussolini's outcome might look like a walk in the park.

May be an image of text that says 'RESULTS COUNTY BREAKDOWN EXIT POLLS Sherrill Ciattarelli Other White (71%) 45% Black Black(9%) (9%) 91% 54% Hispanic/Latino (10%) 64% 5% Asian (5%) 81% 32% Other (5% 51% 17% Race 42% White (71%) 45% Non-White (29%) 74% 54% 22%'

So I'm not sure this is PRECISELY a political observation, but since AI is killing jobs and stuff I think this is the best place to put it: I was just in a call consulting on an AI policy for a local government and everyone in the call was anti-AI use, heavily concerned about data privacy, had concerns about the ethics of copyright and the impact on the environment, and I swear to you my guts reacted like being in a room full of white people and finding out nobody is MAGA. Like I felt relief flood into my VEINS.

Anyway, the city is crafting a very smart, thoughtful, protective AI policy and also just disabled CoPilot from all its Microsoft accounts because MS has not yet given us ANY evidence that any private data entered into CoPilot won't be used for training their algorithms.

That's legit amazing and so reassuring to hear. I really hope my library eventually follows suit, but right now I'm being a bit carried along in the flow. I am giving a talk in January about AI use in hiring, largely from the end of "this is how people are using AI to bullshit applications". Kind of hoping that turns some people off of it.

It really is city to city--these guys are in a very progressive AND very artsy city so there's heightened awareness about IP / copyright issues and also about environmental impact. The next town over is SUPER pro using it so literally five miles down the street, totally different opinion and I would've been chewing through my tongue to stop myself from talking.
