McFarlane DC Multiverse

I finally received the full Batman Day wave today from McF Toy Store. I'll rank below with my thoughts from best to worst.

GREAT:

Failsafe Mega-fig. Easily my fave of the group. Just another well done large figure from McF and very unique all around. This is one of my favorite McF figures.

OK to Good:

Black Mask as Batman. Very creepy head sculpt. Solid colors. Decent figure, but like Hugo and Inque (and even Two-Face at one point), Black Madk deserves a dedicated figure rather than an excuse to make another Batman figure.

Earth-2 Society Dick as Batman: I like this figure more than expected. As a Hawkeye. I'm always a sucker for Black and Gold an dc this figure pops.

Scarecrow: The best Scarecrow figure that I can remember in quite some time. I feel like I can move on from the other 3 McF Scarecrows I hace at this point.

Not Great / Somewhat Regretful Purchases

Hush Riddler: Love the story. Costume is too plain but I do love the green suit. A figure that I didn't need and shouldn't have bought.

Classic Batgirl: Meh. It's ok. Don't really like the effect on the side of the mask. Actually might still prefer the 3 Jokers version. Will still be looking for purple version.

Batman Inc Batman: Wouldn't have bought if not for bundle pricing and discount coupon. I actually like it more than I expected to. Glow around emblem is more subtle than it looked in promo pics, which is good. I have way too many McF Batmen. Almost might need to do a hall of costumes Ike I do with Iron Man Armors.

I probably would have been better off with just buying Failsafe and waiting to see if any of the others ever got discounted later.

I officially have nothing else from DC pre-ordered for the first time in as long as I can remember. Wasn't able to pre-order Blackfire or Cheetah so I'm hoping to find them in the wild. Possibly purple Batgirl as well.

1966 BATMOBILE arrived on Tuesday. After spending some time with it, as well as the others in the line, it really is one of the weaker offerings. It’s an enlarged version of the one already released, and a seriously missed opportunity. Mattel’s from 13 years ago is still champ.
I held off on this purchase. I could be convinced if it was absolute perfection but McFarlane's 66 Batmobile for the 6 inch line looked laughable with the figures in it and I did not want to get the Multiverse one if it wasn't great. I just don't like 66 Batman that much.

I do have the Mattel version and you're right, it still has to be topped. They didn't even do anything that incredible. There are no lights or sounds or any kind of bells and whistles. They just made it accurate. That's all I need.

I agree- sort of. The early reviews made it look really bad. Having it in hand - not so bad. Sure opening doors would be amazing and some chrome in place of the plastic grey silver. I guess my love for this version reigns and I am just happy to add it to the collection. Not the greatest but I can live with it.

I watched the first few minutes of a review of the Multiverse version and as soon as the guy in the video compared it to the Retro version, pointing out EXACTLY the same issues that one had, I was glad I skipped it.
Granted, the Mattel one doesn't scale next to the other live action Batmobiles I have from McFarlane, but it LOOKS better, which is what I want.

Tough to say what the best Batmobile is. All the ones that should be two seaters have the fatal flaw of NOT being two seaters with the exception of the 66 and the Tumbler.

I'm afraid you have to take 89 off the list because of that inaccurate canopy. Definitely take off the Flash 89 because it was inaccurate AND a completely different color.

Maybe the B&R was the "best" because it was movie accurate with that one seat and it had the lights? I don't know.

The only one I have is the 89. By the time the Flash one hit, we already knew it was coming out again with a Keaton Batman so I fortunately waited it out, then I went and got the Ramen upgrade canopy. So I dodged the shinny finish, mismatched colors, and inaccurate canopy, and have the "best" version of an 89 Batmobile that Todd and a 3rd party company can give me.

Max is so well done. Would love to see Todd take a stab at more Burton.
Would probably never happen because of even more crazy likeness rights, but I'd love to see him- or anyone, really- tackle figures from the 89 comic sequels. Billy Dee Williams as Two Face, Winona Ryder as Batgirl, Marlon Wayans as Robin, Jeff Goldblum as Scarecrow, Madonna as Harley Quinn, and Martin Short as the Riddler. Though I suppose with Batgirl, Robin, and Scarecrow he could always just do them masked, and Harley could be "Madonna inspired". The longest of long shots, but would be great if it could come to fruition somehow. It's a pretty cool Scarecrow design, I think.
