Star Wars Black Series

Fair. I do think the plastic poncho thing wasn't executed quite perfectly either, and that might be what does it, at least for me. That, especially when added to the softgoods tunic underneath, can look a little odd unless you fiddle with it- it either bunches up around the neck, which makes him look like he has no neck, or kinda bulks him up in a weird way. In the show, if I remember correctly, it kinda goes all the way up to the helmet and wraps around in an almost turtleneck/chunky sweater kind of look, but here they couldn't do that. Though I do appreciate the extra all-black neck peg they included. I wonder if you were to switch out the black one for the skin tone if that would help any? I was happy once I messed with it for a bit, but even still- from certain angles it's a bit off. It's got its share of little nitpicks, but for me, it's still an incredible figure, even without the helmet. I'm glad Hasbro seemed to put equal effort into the helmeted and unhelmeted looks.

Have they announced or hinted at an updated Threepio to go with the wonderful and lovely updates to the rest of the A New Hope cast?

Got some random additions to the collection yesterday, mostly stuff I kinda shouldn't have bought but don't regret it now that they're in hand. RotJ Obi-Wan - they really haven't made a bad Kenobi in YEARS, have they. Not my favorite, I think my forever favorite Kenobis will be from the TV show from now on, but he's really nice. The overlays work better than they have in the past.

Lt. Galle - nothing new under the sun here but I like the color palette and I think this completes my "a commander for every color of clone trooper I own" goal.

New sandtrooper - absolutely NO reason for me to buy a new sand trooper but WTF, why have we never gotten the open left hand to steady his rifle before? Is this a way to get us to re-buy every stormtrooper ever/ Because it's great!

Stranger should be here at some point. It's with DHL so y'know, some time after Thanksgiving probably. Not in a rush but looking forward to getting him.

I got x2 of the new Sandtroopers today myself. They look really good. I probably didn't need them either, but like docsilence said, WTF.

It's always fun to get some good imperial troopers.

Also, NORM, they haven't announced an updated ANH Threepio, but I have to believe it's coming. But it's not on any of the rumor or leak lists yet.

I'm surprised we haven't heard if they're doing updated Force Awakens figures for the anniversary or not. I'm sure the lack of news means they're probably not, at least not this year, but hopefully next year. Since they already updated the figures for Rogue One, they can maybe give us one or two new characters from that, and update TFA, unless they'll be too focused on M&G

I bet they think any sequel stuff is a big risk. I think I share that opinion. As much as I'd want printed likenesses for Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren, I would be annoyed to shell out 27.99 per figure for just heads. I would not hold my breath for any acknowledgment of the anniversary for TFA.

Totally get that. I wouldn't say I'm holding my breath; it would be cool to have, but I'm not gonna die if they don't get around to it. TFA is definitely the "safest" option of the sequel trilogy, but yeah, I get why they wouldn't want to- some Walgreens still have the original Finn hanging around.

I'd hope it would be more than just new faceprinted heads, though; some of those old bodies are in pretty dire need of the updated articulation too. I'm sure they'll get around to redoing most of the old figures from all of the films in the updated style eventually, it's just a matter of when.

I'm pretty much disinterested in most sequel stuff but I do still want one fricken Poe Dameron with a good face print, just ONE decent looking Oscar Isaac.

It's funny the hullabaloo yesterday when Driver mentioned he and Steven Soderbergh pitched a Kylo/Ben Solo solo film that got shot down and how amped people were for it. Quite literally of all the sequel leads the one I give the least of a shit about was Darth Gaslighter. They could sell me on an attempt at rewriting history to give Rey, Finn, or Poe a better arc (I keep wondering if they'll ever be able to with animation) but I cannot fucking STAND Ben/Kylo. I'd rather watch a solo film about Elan Sleazebaggano selling death sticks.

I'd love a Ben solo film, or some more sequel content. But I also think, like the PT, that the ST films had a lot to say as myths about where we are exactly in the present moment culturally, and where our heroes are as well.

That we are mythtaken?

Thank you, Buffy - one of my all-time favorite lines. :)

A collectible set of TFA re-dos would be perhaps less of a risk? Poe, Kylo and Leia all need photoreal faces. Han has already been redone, Chewie is fine, Luke was pretty close.

Maybe if we steer away from just TFA into just general Sequels? One wave of six "tribute" characters:
Leia - either regal Last Jedi look
Luke - the Crait figure that never materialized
Poe - ROTS
Finn - ROTS
Rey - Probably a re-do of her original look - I put a photoreal face on the OG and while the neck is long, it helps A LOT
Kylo done like Qimir - both Ben Solo and Kylo looks in one.

The last Rey or two were actually pretty decent (though I bet they could work wonders with the new soft goods/softer rubber overlays the current crop of Black Series is using lately). The boys really feel like they never got a good representation.

Did Keri Russell ever take her helmet off in TRoS?
