2026-2027 Rumor/Leak List - New Year, New Thread! Updated 4-9-26.

Well these rumors definitely brightened my day. Exodus has been in my top five for more than 20 years. I'm hoping the Jubilee is Generation X. I would love it if US Agent is Force Works. Most of the rest are going to depend on the version of the character.

SO MAN X-MEN, LET'S GOOOO.

We need a good Jubs for sure, cause that X-Men '97 wave was not it for me.

So we can all get on the same page, the "classic" Mesmero look is the cross between Kang and King Cobra with a dash of Lex Luthor?

Was this guy ever on the Animated Series? I don't think I've ever seen this character in action in any story I've read or seen.

He was in X-Men: Evolution, wasn't he? I have a vague memory of that.

EDIT: Yep, he was. Not in the classic outfit though. He was a herald? acolyte? horseman? of Apocalypse in that series.

I met Mesmero in the pages of X-Men long before I ever heard of Kang, King Cobra or even Lex Luthor. Uncanny X-Men 111 was the very first comic I ever read. Mesmero was the bad guy and so he holds ab outsized place in comic history for me.

But the idea that he's a mash up of King Cobra and Kang is silly and reductive. The green/purple color trope for villains was a long standing mainstay of the 4- color printing process for comics. Heroes were red/blue/yellow and villains were purple/green - Green Goblin, Dr Doom, the Lizard - so many early Marvel villains adhere to this pattern. So the idea that Mesmero, who appeared in 1968, was a copy of King Cobra and Kang who appeared in '63 and '64 respectively because they share a color scheme and some vaguely similar costume aesthetics is silly. Mesmero was designed at at a time where purple and green was short hand for 'bad guy'.

No Mesmero slander on my watch.

I believe this is the Mesmero look most of us here desire. (à la John Byrne)

Just look at him posing all sexy for Beast.

That wasn't slander - that was an observation from someone who admittedly said they had never read or seen anything with this character. And I was referring to his costume - I have literally no idea what his powers are outside of conjecturing that it's something about mesmerizing.

I know you weren't actually saying anything negative about the character... and I wasn't offended by the comment. My slander comment was supposed to be playful.

The colors green and purple signifying "bad guy' was truly a silver age trope that Stan (and his protoges) leaned into in a big way. And why they changed up the Hulk's color scheme from grey and blue... so he looked like a bad guy, (green an purple) and it would visually help justify the world's distrust about him.

Primary colors were reserved for the good guys, so ... bad guys get purple and green for contrast, especially given that good guy mainstay red (Supes, Spidey, Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Daredevil) is opposite green on the ol' color wheel.

On another note, if Hasbro dares say in the stream that Alpha Flight is now complete after these reveals I will riot because we will still be short of one classic and core AF character from the Byrne's run. Her name is TALISMAN, Hasbro. And now that you are at it, the Master of the World would be a welcome addition. Give us at least one classic Alpha Flight villain for them to fight.
I think the speculation on Box is because Hasbro said that there was a BAF coming this year that would be a "team finisher". It's certainly possible that Hasbro is wrong about that, or that their snapshotting the team at a time when Talisman hadn't yet joined (I'm not super up to speed on Alpha Flight continuity), but it's also possible that the BAF completes a different team... Astonishing X-Men, perhaps?
