Tracking toy tariffs

Don't be silly. Don't you remember how Trump said he would bring down drug prices by 500%-600% at least? 100% tariff on drugs that pay you to take them just means more money in your pocket!!!!

It looks like, from the reporting, that this is just another nothing burger executive order from Trump. The stipulations around the tariffs are pretty specific and exclude most of the existing makers/drugs because they already mostly come from favoured nations. Much like how the tariffs on Canada exclude anything covered under CUSMA (which is something like 85% of trade).

I guess he is trying to distract from the shit show he is currently in with Iran, but as someone pointed out on a podcast it seems like the Iran folly has finally dented his ability to control the media narrative. I mean the Iran war was done to distract from the Epstein files, and now he is firing Bondi to distract from the Iran war which won't work because it won't stay in the media's focus for long thanks to the war sucking up most of the oxygen.

I still reject the idea that the unprovoked aggression against Iran is a distraction because I don't think anything is a distraction with this administration. It's ALL stuff they want to do and it's always destined to overlap with other horrible things we're mad about. The hilarious thing is that even if the baseless attack on Iran was working as a distraction, the Epstein files are being cited as a reason for Bondi's dismissal, which puts the Epstein files back front and center again.

This administration is ONLY as cruel as it is incompetent, and it seems to be a bottomless well of both.

Don't get me wrong, I think Trump and most of his administration belong in an oubliette, but Trump still has the ability to levy tariffs after the Supreme Court ruling because he always had two loopholes in reserve.

The Supreme Court said he couldn't impose tariffs under IEEPA and designate any old thing an "emergency", but his executive power to levy tariffs for unfair trade practices under Section 301 and his power to levy tariffs for national security reasons under Section 232 were never in question. After the court ruled against Trump's IEEPA tariffs, Lutnick basically went on a conservative press tour to gloat that they'd just shift their tariff reasoning until the courts get after them again.
100% - that's what I'm talking about. It's all bullshit. It's all illegal. It's all vanity. He gets his peepee slapped and told to stop doing it, so he pulls an 'I'm not touching you' with his finger an inch from your face. He's a fucking child and his administration are ghouls that KNOW they are doing illegal things and are outright saying 'good luck keeping up with how we keep changing our reasons so you have to keep chasing us in court while we keep doing it.' It's fucking vile.

does that include part-time & minimum wage jobs?
Who can say? The fact that the numbers can't be trusted anymore means they could be fiddled with to make it look better after the dismal last few reports. That or they could be accurate and just not as good as they want to make them seem.

Either way with what is going on now I imagine it will be getting worse, not better, in the coming year.

Also not surprised to find out a new term:

I just got hit with another import duties fee. This time from DHL, for the Mafex Hush Robin from amiami.

I wasn't going to NOT pay it, since I want the figure, but damn..... No other imports currently on preorder from overseas, so this should be the last thing to pop up.

From what I read on a few different import sites, ECMS should be tariff-free. My MAFEX Robin is coming via ECMS, so I'll let everyone know.

Without the very favorable yen/usd exchange rate, I'd have probably stopped buying toys almost entirely, due to tariff costs.

well with the new Masterpiece Transformers Blaster I'm going to have to navigate this tariff thing if I want to get one
usually it was cheaper to buy overseas direct from Japan even with shipping included

I've been using ECMS almost exclusively on imports for the last year or so. Not duty-free, but pre-paid for me.
Yeah, important distinction. It's at least paid ahead of time so you aren't hit with a mystery fee after you consider the item paid off.
