Big Bad Workshop General

Yeah... Poor Ben Edlund and the licensing rights. He created SO many great characters for the cartoon without fully realizing he had signed away all ownership. I talked to him about it at a ComicCon after the show was over and he was pretty bitter about it.

I do think his deal on the Amazon show was better...

I do wonder if Disney will ever try to mine the cartoon for a buck. I have a bootleg DVD of the entire animated series from back before Fox would officially release it. I love the guys like sewer urchin and el seed and pineapple pokopo so much.

The first live action show with Patrick Warburton was actually also amazing, but only got one season and was also a Fox property, I believe, so may also have ownership issues.

I'm pretty sure Pinapple Pokopo is from the original comics. I distinctly remember a panel of Tick having him in a headlock and tearing out his hair with the brilliant sound effect of "tear out."

Hmmm... According to google Pokopo is from the animated series.

Was happy to be reminded that Red Scare and Man Eating Cow were in the comics first, tho.

I wonder who I'm thinking of, then. Definitely a distinctive and memorable head.

Edit: there was a Who's Who style directory of Tick characters called Circus of the Mighty. Heaven knows if I still have my copies, but I did find an image online of the contents page.

Just to check my math, it says this was published in 1992, two years before the cartoon.

Bottom line, I think Pineapple's back on the menu!
