More like a sociopath who has neve been held responsible for anything in his life and now has his sights set on being ruler for life of a formerly democratic republic. As such he doesn't need anyone's vote anymore so why bother even pretending to really care?
 
Tbf, even if he managed to win ruler for life, it would still be a short reign. If old age doesn't get him, he will probably be one of the biggest targets in history, if he isn't already.

But Shadow President Miller and the Project 25 people are already entrenched in enacting everything so it doesn't really matter.

It's Metal Gear Solid 2 and we don't have a Snake or Philanthropy coming for us.

They love using incompetence as an excuse. What are the chances that at some point during the legal challenge to the tariff order the government lawyers argued it would be easy to refund everyone if they were eventually struck down?

While I understand this, he doesn't matter. Nature abhors a vacuum. Cheeto dies, his men fight for the throne. If they don't wipe each other out, the resulting chaos will alienate enough people that they lose. They don't have enough bodies on their side now, just wait till the supreme leader kicks it and his cronies start eating each other. And then the Nuremberg 2.0 starts.

Alternatively, the other scenario, he dies and his cult somehow manages to stay in power, there are alot of veterans and other like minded people who will probably start offing them. I have a feeling people are waiting for midterms to see how that plays out. If the cult survives that long, and they manage to rig the midterms, people will riot.

Lastly, studying cult behavior, every cult ends poorly. And the things that are usually the cause.

1. The people drink the coolaid. Nothing ends it faster then just them all meeting Zuul on their own terms.

2. Infighting and betrayel. People want the crown. Or they don't like something the leader does. Any number of reasons. But they turn on the leadership and and start either sabotaging or trying to take over. People see the lack of solidarity, they leave.

3. Leader dies. Most cult leaders are charismatic narcissists that know how to speak and manipulate people. But the kind of people they attract aren't usually. Look at the supporting cast. Not one of them has a better personality then a piece of wood. And none of them have the charisma power to lead people like their savior does. Cult leaders attract easy followers. Not other leaders. Or if they do, we go back up to number 2, which leads to number 3 in most cases. So, the leader dies, and none of his cronies have the ability to pick up the torch, or fail when they try to run shit themselves, and people just leave. Or turn on the new leadership.

History has taught us that this kind of shit won't last forever. And cults like this almost always end poorly. I can't say they always do, cause I haven't studied the subject as in depth as I could, but to my knowledge, most of them implode. Unfortunately, this one is so large, it may not end without alot of people dying. And while I'm perfectly fine with them meeting their God, they will probably try to take some of the not so psychotic people with them. And the longer this shit goes on, the more collateral damage.

They only problem is that the "cult" is the government and there are lots of examples, past and current, of governments surviving generations. Now usually that is because of a somewhat clear line of succession (North Korea, Iran, a bunch other middle east countries). However the fake democracy versions (Russia, Belarus, Hungary, etc.) usually can hang on longer than expected thanks to the power of the government (rigging elections, using force to oppress).

So while Trump is not one to engender a line of succession there is a chance his kids could become the defacto successors after his death. I agree though that the midterms are most likely the big inflection point coming up. If the Republicans can steal the election it is probably going to be a long time under their thumb. If the Democrats win it could come to a head (possibly violent) fairly quickly.
 
Its probably gonna get violent either way. Alot of people are already sick of this, and its just gonna get worse. Eventually someone is gonna snap. And in any kind of open conflict, I would pick the veterans and American people over the cult every day. Most of them are actual pansies irl. I'd say at least 60% would fold under the threat of a gun. And as they are already vastly outnumbered, 60% bitching out will push that further. One of the guys I follow said they did war games studies in his training, and it would only take 7% of the US population to overthrow the gvt. Alot of people would die unfortunately, but if you think about it only needing 7%, and there are for more then that angry and would most likely take up arms, I wouldn't count on this regime lasting much longer past midterms, no matter how it goes. I would be very surprised. And it may not make it that far if they keep getting people killed. Not to say everything would be hunky dory afterward, but that's a different discussion.

Hell, their own people almost overthrew an election and our government. 10k people, MAYBE. Imagine if people on the Left, or even just people who are tired of this shit-- imagine if they actually mobilized and stormed DC in greater numbers. AND had actual means of fighting back that weren't flagpoles and stolen police shields.

It could be done in less than two hours, I have no question or doubt in my mind. The people could take back this country if emboldened and driven enough in record time.

However, at the end of the day, people romanticize our forefathers and the revolution to get us here, but aren't willing to risk the necessary evils to get us back to where we need to be. We aren't at the levels of "nothing left to lose" yet, and that is by design. But if or when we reach that point, ho boy. No guarantees.

Although, say that happens, all of those things, then what? Who do we put in charge? Who rights and runs the ship? We just put more of the same people into power, pulling more of the same shit, and we start over again. Except now they have the blueprint on what NOT to do to protect themselves from another uprising. And over and over again we do this dance. History is doomed to repeat itself.

We are doomed to be burdened by men who enjoy the smell of their own farts a little too much, and who continue feel untouchable.
