I've seen that a couple times lately (not cases, but individual figures). Sellers on Kijiji, etc. selling Classified figures for $20-$25Cdn (sealed).

I would be tempted to say KO for the Royal Guard, but it is such a new release I don't know that they could have gotten made already in China and shipped out.

If anything -- definitely stolen, but not KOs. I suppose they could be KOs in the sense that the factory turned the machines on and made some extras during production which they kept to sell on their own. But if you have a client the size of Hasbro, it seems like a REALLY huge, unnecessary risk to screw them like that.
 
I saw a person on ebay selling the Black Series Ax Woves helmet (which I was looking at to repaint as another Boba Fett helmet), and they have several for $75, and nothing else they have listed is toy or collectible related.... really peculiar and I didn't trust it, heh.

They're all legit products (I know people who have bitten on them) and it seems to always be Hasbro product. The shadiest one was the guy with 12 Gamerverse Juggernauts all at $30 around Christmas.

It's just surprising to me that they would have the Guard, given that Canada has fallen behind us releases. I know he's already at Target, but we've lost our early figure advantage the last year.

But if I want to theorize: the past few months there have been break-ins at all the EBs in the GTA. The majority of them have had the door codes, but some like my local just had the front glass door smashed through. They've been going in and taking consoles and accessories and cash from the floor. Some places had kept cash in the till and someone knows this.

I happened to go to my EB the morning after, and they still had the fingerprint dust everywhere, and one of the clerks was all too happy to tell me everything. My particular store doesn't keep the consoles on the floor, and they didn't have time to go into the back room, so they only took a bunch of accessories and Pokemon/MtG, which yes, they're all listed on Marketplace right now if you're a Marketplace hound like me. Big uptick in controllers.

So while figures have never entered that conversation, since the thefts have gone back as far as I've noticed these figures, I think it's safe to say there's some sort of insider theft going on and perhaps they know how action figure guys can fiend.

Before my current staff, the prior manager, who was always cool to me and always got me rarities, was fired because he was doing insider flipping of rare figures and collectibles, and I was told his eBay account featured product shots directly from their back room.

None of this is surprising to me, I could write you an answer anthology collection of everything that happened at Toys R Us theft wise. My favor

You know what if you've read this far, I'm going to tell you one of my favorites:

LP was regularly in and out of my store using it as an office, but one day he was interviewing every cashier that was on to shift. What he was after was witness statements to confirm what they already knew, that one of the cashiers had been taking M&Ms and Pepsi for free on their shift.

One of the cashiers/floor people it happened to be the son of the manager of a store in a different city. All these interviews are taking place in the manager's office, which is right next to my video game counter, where I just lean and read magazines all shift. I can hear everything that goes on in that office everyday. One of my managers had an extra marital affair there.

Anyway. They call this kid back.

LP guy says to have a seat.

You can hear the chair squeak, and then the kid lets out this banshee wail and starts sobbing. And then he says, "I did it, I stole the Xboxes."

What had happened was apparently we had been missing Xboxes and Gameboy Advances, but the morning video game people who did the counts always found ways to rationalize why the count was off. Store transfers, cashiers not ringing things out properly. Wasn't my problem as a PM worker. But this kid had been taking them and smuggling them in garbage bags when he was tasked with collecting all the trash in every department. And then he would drop them between the loading dock and the trailer while the truck team was on break.

And then after work just go back and swoop it up.

I had to give him credit. Everything was in his favor, but he broke when they didn't even have a clue.
 
So, I'm sure this is ancient news but I finally got around to opening my Desert Scorpion and I'm really disappointed the unmasked look is a face plate instead of a full alt head. I don't even want to display him maskless, but ehe bearded face looks like it could have made a solid custom Dreadnok, if it was a complete head.

I'm not a fan of face plates either. I do think both faces with the Scorpion are excellent but yeah, if it had been a full alternate head I'd have been building him into a custom ten seconds after I opened the box.
 
Thirded on the disappointment with the face plate. The unmasked face is so awesome and expressive and, frankly, too interesting to just be popping out under the weird DS helmet, which looks cool as fuck with the mask but does look strange without. A fully unmasked head would have been pretty damn amazing . . . maybe they thought that was a bridge too far for a villainous desert-fighter character with what could be perceived as Arab features?
