Having a cartoon & all, it might not be generic enough to qualify, but for me Bots Master totally fit in this theme. Because who cares about the cartoon, I just saw a 3 armed robot Snake Eyes with flip-down roller blades called NINJZZ & had to have him!

Rat Fink and the Rat Rods. I knew next to nothing about these. But I saw them in Children's Palace next to the Beetlejuice and Bill and Ted's action figures, and thought they looked cool, so I wanted 'em.

My parents used to call my dog rat fink. I had no idea, up until this very second, that he was an existing character. I thought it was an insult.

Capitol Critters, based off of a short lived prime time TV cartoon show. About rats and cockroaches that live in the White House.

I just looked this up. Why, pray tell, would the show be called Capitol Critters if the titular critters did not live in the Capitol?

If they live in the White House, why not call it Capital Critters?

It befuddles.

Right? I was going to post some toys from my childhood, but I was worried I'd receive an avalanche of replies like:

"I was 35 when that came out."
"I picked it up after my second divorce."

Rat Fink is an insult. It's a contemptible person, usually like a traitor or swindler.

So you're right.

But he's also a character from acclaimed cartoonist and hot rod enthusiast Edward "Big Daddy" Roth. Popular painted on show hot rods and then adapted to music gig posters and album art. From the 60s, he is intended to be the Anti Mickey Mouse.

He had a lot of merch in the 80s and 90s, but I never saw Hot Wheels.

I'm enjoying this thread because my toy knowledge has a major gap from between about 1983 (high school, and Micronauts and vintage SW more or less ends) to 1997 or so when Power of the Force started to drop the bulky aesthetic, but didn't really kick back in until Legends, Palisades Muppets and Simpsons World of Springfield lines appeared in the early 2000's and my collecting phase started...
