The Pet Thread

I agree. Insurance is a total racket, and it's amazing how much they get away with. Possibly the shadiest industry there is.

I've been trying to wrap my head around even just human insurance this week so I can get medicated and functional myself, I really did not think there could be anything worse than it.
I don't think there is. Adding shareholders to medicine is perhaps the most evil idea in human history.

Genuinely, it may be. I get why some medicines are controlled substances (especially what I'm trying to get, which is some form of ADHD medication), but $500-$1000/month to get insurance that may or may not even cover what I need depending on how an executive feels that day is just comical. Especially when what I need is a doctor visit (which should be free for everyone), and medicine that probably costs pennies to produce.

Agreed on avoiding pet insurance. I looked into it last year for my little kitty when he had to have some teeth removed, and everything I saw and discussed made me feel sick. I ended up just doing one of those payment installment plan things that they have specifically for vet visits; bit of a scam in and of themselves, but at least they covered it, and I got it paid off before too much interest had stacked up.
