Star Wars Black Series

Yeah. Very much this is where I'm heading.

Also, in Star Wars and GI Joe specifically I want the no-name characters, because for whatever reason those are worlds where I am interested more in the vibes of the setting than most of the signature characters in it (with some exceptions). Like, I don't want a generic superhero figure coming from ML. I want Spider-Man. But I've got several codename-less figures from GI Joe and if Black series ever made generic Jedi and Sith I'd be all over them. For these franchises I want to headcanon more. I could delve into why, but that's my weird quirk with these lines specifically.
Sort've me too. In both IPs I do like the named characters a lot and they still form the majority of what I want from the toy lines. But for both IPs, as you said, my idea of what I want from it is way more vibes and 'concept' than 'these specific characters and nothing else.' I definitely don't feel that way about Marvel or DC. Those are 100% character-focused collections.

Joes and Star Wars are actually the only IPs where I'm even interested in unnamed characters/troopers at all.

I think for me it's because in both the worlds seem big enough for you to drop your own character in without being completely overshadowed by someone already there. Luke and Han are cool, but there's a thousand planets in that galaxy and a thousand generations of other Jedi. Somebody in that mix had to be as cool and it might as well be somebody I make up. For Joe, I mean, the whole point is it's an ensemble, and my brain will never get out of the mode it was in when you could mail away for the Steel Brigade with your own personalized filecard. It's one of the few old Joes I had.

@JakeEkiss, are we talking about the 40th anniversary deluxe Fett? It keeps going in and out of my shopping cart on BBTS.

I'm gunshy over rumors that he's getting a modern update, but if it still holds up as a good figure, I'll pull the trigger.

Yep, that's the one. I think he's great. A massive upgrade form the first Fett they did and still a solid banger. In fact I need to get mine out and mess with him some soon. He's been out of rotation for a bit.

I've still never forgiven Hasbro for how great the digital render for that Fett looked compared to the squished helmet figure. The ESB version they did for the original release wasn't perfect either but the helmet is the star of that costume and it was the proper shape at least.

Mine doesn't feel squished, I dunno, I can't recall if I heated it a bit or if I just got lucky but I don't recall any big issue with the helmet.

Man, with the 50th Anniversary coming in 2027, I hope Hasbro goes A New Hope Ape Shit in 2027. I hope they just release all kinds of ANH goodness in Black Series figure form. Sure, re-release the main characters again. But give me Garindan, Bo Shek, Lak Sivrak, Wuher, Owen and Beru. Just do the whole damn movie in figure form Hasbro. Please!

Even when Starfighter comes out in 2027, just sprinkle 7 or 8 A New Hope characters into the Starfighter Black Series line up. No one will get mad.

I'm not sure, but either way if you're happy with it, that's really all that matters. I ended up getting rid of him and spending some more for a Mafex figure but if I'm spending that kinda money on someone, it's gonna be Boba.

Hasbro. The bottoms of the ears should be flaring out more rather than being pinched in toward each other.

Sold! Thanks for the review.

I just shipped my PoL a couple days back, so he's going to be hanging out by himself until Ghost Rider or some Crimson Moon stuff shows up.

Yea, that one. Same figure with just holiday paint. I bought 2 from Ollie's when I saw them there. They sold out quick. 1 I'm keeping as is. The other I'm gonna repaint somehow. Not sure how yet. But I'll keep most of the blue and probably get rid of the detailing and paint the white bits silver or something. Haven't decided yet.

I swapped the deluxe Boba helmet with Cobb Vanth. Most of the scarring and scratches look similar and the helmet is slightly bigger and looks better. It fits better too. Cobb isn't wearing the helmet anyway in my display. But as a whole I'm still not really happy with the deluxe. Even if the older ESB Boba has more limiting issues, it still *looks* much better. I prefer it over the deluxe. The throne room one though is a fantastic figure and I'm gonna be a little sad to move him to the Boba shelf when the BoBF one comes out. But it also looks to be really nice. Right now hes with my Mando stuff.

Star Wars is also the only line I actually buy random guys without names to army build. I have more clones then I have room for, some named ones from Aliexpress, but I have alot of 501st and plain whites with no names. And a few of the other colors they released. I have 5 Darktroopers, and may get more. A bunch of battle droids and stormtroopers and Gideons commandos. And I also have multiples of most of the nameless Mandalorian figures with a bunch of GI Joe heads on them, and I painted some of the details different to make them more unique. But still, a Mando army. I even bought an extra Darktrooper Gideon to alter a bit and make into another Mando. I may do more like try changing the jetpack and such. But the helmet I painted for it is fuckin awesome. And I removed the cape, gave him new guns, and a slightly modified inquisitor lightsaber. My headcanon is he is a Mandalorian that could use the force and was being trained as an Inquisitor before realizing how bad it was, but kept the armor and the training. And the armor headcanon is it was designed by the same people who made Gideons. Like a prototype of what Gideon uses, and Gideon just kinda stole the design for himself. I'm sure most things in the Empire were fair game if copyright was a thing in the SW universe. Or maybe Gideon designed it for him long ago and then just decided to make himself one later. I also bought like 4 or 5 credit collection Bo Katans from Ollie's and painted alot of those up to be different too. I have some pics but not alot of them. I still have a body to use that I haven't painted yet but I'll get to it eventually. I haven't bought any army builder for other lines. I don't even have AIM, Shield or Hydra agents. And I bought some GI Joe Ninjas but I only got 1 of each, except the black and red female ninja, cause I can use her for 2 different looks and make them 2 different people. And I love me some Ninjas.

Just a couple of my faves. I may take more pics later of all the Mandos i have so far.

That is a lot of Mandalorians! I love the female Mandalorian with the purple armor and the purple lightsaber. That looks so cool. She even looks like a legit character they would have done in the comics or something.

She reminds me of a character that would have come out in the old Legacy Comic 2 Packs for the 3.75" figures years ago.

Purple female Mando for figure of the year!

Who were the characters in the comic packs that had white lightsabers and red and black armor with capes? I really liked the look of those. I still have the female character... somewhere. I'm really a sucker for that Star Wars metallic/plastic red. The Ep 9 Stormtroopers are my favorite armor design of the entire franchise.

There's a reason I have multiples of the Mando army builders - well, main reason is I have a problem, but also they just look cool and imagining their story can be neat, or customizing an original design. I've yet to do either of those things, but I have the figures to get to one day. Until I just accept that I won't and finally sell them. :)

I have a couple more i need to paint, and I need to figure out exactly how I want to paint them. So that's not all I have. But I absolutely love the lore of the Mandalorians. And while I like the stuff they did in all the Faloni shows, the real love comes from KotoR. The lore behind them, and the war with the Jedi, it was all just so amazing when I was younger to hear about it from all those game sources. Canderous was a fantastic character as well.

The red armor, white lightsaber figures were imperial knights in old canon. They were part of the Legacy comics more then anything, and while they were supposed to be neautral (hence the white lightsabers) they often were dicks and seemed to favor the dark. I do believe the tried to kill Cade on a number of occasions. I also made a couple customs of those in the older days. I don't know if I still have them.
