My Egon 2-pack came just in time for Halloween, so after my wife and I got in Halloween night I decided to give the line another shot and opened up the again, very very large box. I will say, this box is at least filled out pretty well by the contents, mainly Boogieman's giant noggins. Not the absurd amount of negative space in the single edition boxes.
Again - absolutely beautiful sculpts and paint. I don't mind Egon being off color because he looks so good on the shelf. Having a giant ghost for both busters to bust really woo'd me, here, and now I'm silly enough to be lightly considering Samhain. Peter alone was eh but together with Egon and Boogeyman, the set comes alive. They make better statues than action figures, to the point where I wish I have a full class style display case for them instead of a glassed in shelf. They really look good from all angles, and benefit from seeing with a 360 view.
Unfortunately, though, my Egon's neck joints were completely frozen up and his neck popped out of his chest with very little effort when I twisted. It's almost as if it wasn't glued in. Likely an easy fix with some heat and glue, but I'm going to contact Mondo's customer service to see if at least they have a recommendation for an adhesive. Can't move him around too much without him becoming a headless Ghostbuster, which is a bummer considering the price. Speaking of heads, I could have done without the second Boogie head in exchange for more mini ghosts or accessories. It's a huge awkward piece to store. But it is cool. I'm also happy that the stand for him is well built and sturdy. I've been able to get him into a floating pose, which looks great. I may use that stand in the future for bigger figures, when I rotate out the display.
These are so close to being perfect that the antiquated articulation scheme bums me more out than say, a S7 figure. They have poor flow and wind up looking very toyish in certain poses, which clashes against how well they're rendered. I'm considering porting over some extra hands from other figures to repaint and use as gesture hands for these guys. I have an itchy feeling that instead of an accessory pack, we'll see added heads and hands to incentivize people to buy variant figure releases - like slimed versions - for an extra $110.
If you're reading this, Mondo, do not do that! Accessory pack is the way to go!
I hope you guys had a great Halloween and that the only ghosts you encountered were made of plastic.
