Trust me, I get it. V2 BAT is awesome and has never gotten a solid redo. It’s gonna have to be a ground-up new sculpt, though, if they want to get it right.

Yeah, I would think it's GOT to be on the short list of Cobra stuff to make. Once they hit the Retro-card BAT, it was pretty obvious they've mostly run out of decent repaint ideas. Time to move on to the v2 and repaint that one ad nauseum. I don't really even want any repaints. ALTHOUGH... if they do a regular v2 and an arctic-themed v2, I will get them both for sure. Need more arctic stuff for my stupid fucking SnowCat that I just HAD to fucking have because I'm a fucking goddamn child with my money.

You're probably right. I mean, you're definitely right we have talked about it but also probably right they're engineering it the right way.

The truth is I am excited for Snake Eyes V3, but I'm also kinda excited that it means they could do the stupid Paine brothers after. Even with V3, I totally want the Paine brothers.

I do think if they are aware it's universally disliked we'll get a re-do and call it retro. People HATED the first Cover Girl and Falcon head sculpts and we got updates that were miles better and I swear they both felt like apologies. Handsome Falcon on Night Force absolutely felt like a do-over, and I kinda wonder if they did multiple heads for Cover girl to (unofficially) allow parts swapping, though the skin tones don't match up perfectly.

I actually thought the first versions were... workable. But the round two versions were huge improvements.

The truth is I am excited for Snake Eyes V3, but I'm also kinda excited that it means they could do the stupid Paine brothers after. Even with V3, I totally want the Paine brothers.

The Paine Brothers are such a deep dive but I could imagine them doing those as a con exclusive or something. Though even as someone who loves a deep dive, I can live without "blink and you miss it" kinky torturers. If they'd had more screen time though, gimme them nipple clamps.

I do have a request if the Joe team is watching (I don't think they are): SE v3's stupid sword. It's silly. But please, JUST make it like the vintage one, where it almost looks like some kind of magical medieval sword. I disliked that for 25A they felt the need to give it that more 'ninja-style' blade. Don't do that.

My concern, because I'm endlessly complainy and worrisome about this topic, is that Storm Shadow has so many other variants they can jump to and just pretend NF never happened. Whereas Cover Gril and Falcon don't have nearly as many options to gloss over the failings of the originals. They kinda HAD to remake them if they wanted to get those characters back out there.
Time will tell.

I'd also like this theoretical better v3 Storm Shadow to come out before Classified figures are 60 CAD.

Nearly all of my self-imposed rules for my Classified collection have been broken, some multiple times.

1. No Army Building (broken when BBTS had the Viper 3-pack on sale for like 40 bucks)

2. No Convention Exclusives (broken with Chuckles, and I've acquired every subsequent con ex since his release)

3. No More Vehicles (after the 8 I already have, including the VAMP. Stuck to this one so far)

4. No Haslabs (never have, never will. I just don't spend that kind of money on one release, especially not when I have to pay and then wait)

5. No Retro Carded Figures (broken with a deep clearanced Baroness, further broken by Classic Scarlett, non-con exclusive Mindbender and the upcoming Zap, Crazy Legs and Crimson Guard)

6. No Duplicate Characters (broken early and often by the likes of Tiger Force and Classic looks for characters I love. Plus I have 3 different Snake Eyes. This is probably the most dismissed rule.)

Other than those, it's a free for all. My goal is to have at least one representation of every named character and generic they release (except Haslab characters), which I have achieved with only 3 exceptions so far. I never got Serpentor, hoping for a single release at some point, never got the Sarge and Mercer 2-pack because I don't need another Sarge, but I still hope for a single Mercer some day, and the absolute bane of 2025, the Ghost Viper, continues to elude me. I keep hoping that the secondary market prices will drop to something more reasonable like say, 70 bucks, but alas, no luck on that front yet.

I did indeed decide the sword was low-key magical as a kid, but also was like “uhh yeah this is NOT a sword for ninjas, or even for ‘ninjas’, this is, like, for a Ringwraith or something and that. is. AWESOME.”

But yes, I need v3 to get the Cadillac treatment all around and please please PLEASE let the card art be your guide, ESPECIALLY for the head! Cool sunglasses, NOT weird wraparound silver goggles thing.

True story; after watching lots of Conan and Beastmaster -- I used to give the v3 SE sword to a de-winged Raptor. He was my G.I. Joe Barbarian guy with the magic sword. I would love to have that represented on my shelf with proper v3 SE sword and a retro-card release of Raptor done up in proper ARAH style.

Also, this thread has brought back the memories of how disappointed I was when I saw in 25A that they changed SE's sword. That was like the precursor to the Classified bullshit of 'but we can make it cooler now.' No, you can't. The reason we're all still talking about G.I. Joe in the year of our dear and fluffy lord 2025 is specifically because of how good ARAH was.

Update: the necks of the Greenshirts are NOT directly swappable with the Cops. Greenies have much larger holes (and yes I realize I just said “much larger holes” in this thread, Cthulhu help me). I presume they will swap at the head/neck joint with heat and then we’ll be good to go, but I’m not trying that tonight because I’m fucking tired and don’t want to mess more than I’ve messed.

Yes to V3's stupid sword. It is beautifully stupid. In my head it was a decorative sword Snake Eyes picked up in a pinch from a vendor table at a Ren Faire, can't hold an edge, but he's so dangerous that he can kill people with DECORATIVE METAL.

I'm glad I didn't make big plans for head swaps with cops and green shirts - I was hoping all those necks / heads would be compatible, but of course they aren't. Maybe either the white cop or the green shirt head will fit on the actual ball peg for screamin' Crazy Legs and I can just paint their hair black.

Oh I’m virtually certain they are, just not in the absolutely easiest way. I had to heat-and-pop the head off the neck of the white cop to get the alt-Big Boa head on the cop neck and then onto the cop body that way, Footloose head as well in the same way, this is almost certainly the same.
