G.I. Joe Classified One-A-Day Beamish-Style Figure Poll - #201 - Voltar (RAH)

Mixed feelings on that CC. It's another one I'd class as "I'd have to see it to decide." That could either be totally uninteresting in Classified, or really cool.

I like the design, but it seems a little off for CoCo, like it's not him.

Seems like Marvel felt the same way. He was in the black hooded outfit for a while, then switched to this for 3-5 issues or so, then went back to the hooded version.

To be fair: black dress inform with the hood is Apex Cobra Commander. That’s one where the toys had to catch up with the comics, which they did eventually in Battle Corps.

I want specifically that version: beefy, intimidating, crazy eyes behind the hood. I prefer my CC to be formidable, physically as well as intellectually. There’s no reason he needs to be a cowering weakling.

I mean, I don't want him Big Boa beefy but yah, formidable for sure. With eye holes on th larger side to really show the expression, and crinkles between the eyes because he is so angry that it even affects the fabric.

I kind of think CC is more threatening with a slender body type because of the implicit feeling of not being threatening while clearly being threatening. Sort of like how Joker isn't physically intimidating looking at him body frame, but he is clearly menacing and intimidating without being physically imposing.

I guess when I say “beefy” I mean “beefy for Cobra Commander”. Like that figure was significantly more jacked than the old hyper-skinny CC without being Big Boa or anyone like that. Also I think he canonically wears body armor (with the equivalent stopping power of the Battle/Combat Armor in streamlined form) underneath that uniform/hood, so he’d be more padded.

So, like, not a bodybuilder AT ALL, just “ahh you can see he works out and yeah maybe he’s wearing lifts but *damn* he’s a scary guy” vibe.

Also re: the Joker:
I definitely prefer the 1940 version who could kick Batman in the head and knock him off a bridge. Not a huge he-man, but not a scrawny dude either. Scrawny is for Riddler and Scarecrow. There was a 90s comic where Joker was showing someone the tricks of his trade and he got shirtless to demonstrate something and he was like Brad Pitt in Fight Club plus about 5-10 pounds of muscle but leaner overall, and that worked for me. Like Joker sometimes feigns combat incompetence, but he’s a brutal and skilled fighter who absolutely practices his own take on “martial arts”. Joker, Penguin (a self-trained boxer and master swordsman) and Two-Face (a collegiate boxing champ) are all underrated hand-to-hand combatants.
