We are excited to announce that Stephan Tetrault, a prominent French-Canadian entrepreneur and longtime leader in the collectibles and entertainment space, has officially acquired Electronics Boutique Canada Inc. (also known as “GameStop Canada”) from GameStop Global Holdings S.A.R.L. This acquisition marks a new chapter for our company. As a result of this change, we will be relaunch as EB Games Canada, a beloved and iconic name many Canadian gamers still associate with their earliest gaming experiences.

Our day-to-day business will continue as normal, and all products and services offered to our customers will remain unchanged during this transition, including:

• Product Pre-Orders – Your pre-orders are safe. Our store pre-order pick-up process and home delivery pre-order shipment process will continue to operate as it has in the past.

• Gift Cards (Physical and Digital) – You can still purchase gift cards on our website, in our stores, and in third-party stores. You can continue to use cards you’ve purchased in the past, and the value stored on these cards will not expire.

• Product Protection Plans – Products you’ve purchased with a protection plan will continue to be covered; our Game Play Guarantee and Product Replacement Plan coverage terms and details remain unchanged. View our Product Protection Plan and Game Play Guarantee Terms and Conditions.

• EDGE Rewards Program – You will continue to receive the benefits associated with the status you’ve earned and will retain your accumulated points. You will continue to have the ability to use your EDGE card and will have the ability to redeem any value stored on this card. View our General Terms and Conditions of Participation "Edge" customer loyalty program.

They had been waffling on that Edge change for a year or so at my store, so I'm glad it persists.

And they've been really great with action figures lately (Hasbro seems very limited, not sure if there's anything going on there) so hopefully we are secure up here. We the North, indeed.

Edit: I'm on mobile at the moment, couldn't figure out the block quote format if any mods want to.

So... some rich douche bought a company and otherwise nothing about that company is going to change?
First of all... okay.....
Second of all... sounds like bullshit.

Never regretted my Edge card, though. It's been a running joke between me and the local EB employees how no one knows what's going on with the Edge cards because all of this stuff has been going on behind the scenes forever and EB wasn't willing to tell anyone what was happening so the Edge memberships have been on hold (no new memberships, but all current memberships remain active - and they keep saying the benefits are changing but no one knows in what manner).

Yup to the Edge.

We shall see what happens. They're basically my only game in town at this point since Toys R Us is gone and the Walmarts are terrible. And they usually beat Amazon by months on certain street dates.

I love DJC Collectibles, but I prefer to pay on pick up, not up front.

Like Canada Bill says. It's crooked but it's the only game in town.

I mean, TRU isn't gone, though? There's three in my city. They're fucking terrible, though. I think SWB figures start at 38 dollars now?

EB/Gamestop has been great for SWB, ML, and sometimes Joe Classified. Especially for Edge members, the prices are pretty good, as far as Canadian toy prices go. I just hope a new owner doesn't mean they operate the same, but worse and with higher prices. That's usually what new ownership means.

It's gone for me and my immediate toy route. They closed a bunch this spring.

They're not worth traveling out of my way across the GTA, especially with the prices and stock.
