I always viewed it as almost OCD. Trying to impose order in a world made chaotic with the loss of his parents. That is why the Joker is his arch nemesis. Batman is neurotic and compulsive; but inherently a good person.

I like Sienkiewicz art but he is mostly just a Neil Adams clone with a veneer of Ralph Steadman over the top. Toss in a little late 80s fine art mixed media.

Smith is the best cartoonist with the exception of Kirby on these lists. Draftsmen and cartoonists are not necessarily the same thing. Smith clearly absorbed a ton of Bernie Krigstein and Alex Toth.

Elephant Graveyard is great. All his longer narrative videos about comedy are worth a watch. I love his term for Rogan … the UnderToad. His Seinfeld videos are also great.
