Yeah, like I said above, those joints/hinges are often really loose. Though you can tighten them with some floor polish/Kiki etc.

    Stands and Accessories

My favorite flight stands are the ones that come with Mezco One:12 figures. Big and sturdy and can hold heavy figures high up. Second is probably Bandai stage act; they're not that strong and can't hold heavy figures, but they’re extremely versatile. I can use them to have a Transformers car...

    McFarlane DC Multiverse

Oddly enough, a friend just asked me my thoughts on flight stands. I covered stands once upon a time on my blog, but it's been, oh, nearly twenty years since then, so a mild update is in order. My favorite flight stands are the ones that come with Mezco One:12 figures. Big and sturdy and can...

    Remember Resaurus?

Forgive you? That Duke Nukem figure ruled. I've got the NECA one too, I like it though it's weirdly not as fun as the old Resaurus one.

Mortal Kombat Klassic figures by McFarlane Toys

    I really like these.

    Remember Resaurus?

Huh. I wasn’t really paying close attention to their forums - I remember the Pickups line, I even had one (still might, somewhere?), but yeah, sounds like they over-hyped it and then took it personally when they didn’t set the world on fire. I mean, they’re no Spotlight “Shoulder Action...

    Remember Resaurus?

They were definitely notable for all of their “hey, I wonder if anyone has this license?” lines. I’d forgotten about their Speed Racer line. And I remember it being a big deal when Resaurus got the Street Fighter license. Since then, it seems like many fledgling action figure companies have...

    Remember Resaurus?

The late 1990s really felt like a renaissance for action figure collecting. McFarlane had revolutionized what we thought action figure sculpting could be, and Toy Biz was innovating in articulation (like toe articulation on their movie Blade line). I feel like Resaurus is the company that...

    Toy purchase disappointments

I expected to love Amalgamous Prime, but I found him disappointing. He's just too limited in the options. I was expecting a Xevoz Sledge Trooper but got a sub-par Weaponizer.

Got a Barry Allen Flash. I once had the Flashpoint one, actually bought him at Target but returned him in a fit of being sensible about money. Glad to have this one though - gives me fond memories of the Toy Biz one I bought back when I was watching the John Wesley Shipp show as a kid.

    Age of Primes

I just figure they'll get to him eventually. I don't foresee a big pivot from their current trajectory without a major media moment, like a new movie or a popular show.

    Star Wars Black Series

I would love if they found some behind-the-scenes, between-the-lines, Rosencrantz-and-Guildenstern-are-Dead way to insert Kyle into the Andor/Rogue One saga and pay tribute to his EU origins.

    McFarlane Spawn

Using some reward points I was able to get the Elite Spawn from the McFarlane site for $50 shipped, a price that does make the figure more palatable, but I would have gotten it either way. As someone who *Elrond voice* was there in 1992 when Spawn started, I've always preferred the classic...

Mortal Kombat Klassic figures by McFarlane Toys

I distinctly remember being impressed by the toe articulation on the movie Blade figures. That's definitely where it started. I think the first truly super-articulated figures I remember seeing at retail (not counting Japanese lines) are the Spider-Man Classics line from Toy Biz.

You Ever Get Tired of This?

Did I sell one of those to you? I still have like three, including the recent retool. Thanks all for the kind comments. The years I ran that site were great, but I burned out on it, plus blogs themselves sort of died out in favor of video, which I have zero interest in (and I thought...

You Ever Get Tired of This?

Haha, no convertible for me. All that convertible money was spent on toys - toys were my midlife crisis. And quarter-life crisis. Basically my whole life crisis.

You Ever Get Tired of This?

Oh yeah. I mean, I turned 47 last month. The last "new" line I got into - something I had never collected or been interested in as a kid, like Transformers/MOTU/Star Wars/Godzilla - was Mezco's Hellboy line, which was (gulp!) twenty years ago now. Even with all the cool stuff coming out now, I...

    Age of Primes

I'm planning to finish Bruticus, but in terms of future combiners, my only must-buy is Abominus. Computron and Predaking are maybes.

    Star Wars Black Series

I know it's highly unlikely, but man would I love to get more Dark Forces/Jedi Knight figures - Jan Ors, Jerec, any of the Dark Jedi, and most of all the original Darktrooper. As for beasts etc., I don't think we're going to see much like that in 6" until the SW has another "moment" in pop...

    Masters of the Universe: Masterverse

My Sy-Klone's hips exploded due to Gold Plastic Syndrome. Irritating. I replaced them with hips from the first Faker release; when he's posed you can't see them under the skirts. I wish they'd just made the gold parts yellow. That gold-swirl plastic is always inherently brittle. I suspect the...

Mortal Kombat Klassic figures by McFarlane Toys

As someone who was very much there for the McFarlane of 1997 (Spawn board alum here), the one thing I want to say is that please don't try to revise 1990s-era McFarlane as having good articulation; they very much did not. I don't think I've ever been more disappointed with an action figure than...

I just want to see a classic Harley on one of these rumor lists.

You Ever Get Tired of This?

I’ve always tended to be someone who focuses on just one thing at a time. Usually, that obsession is triggered by some long-wanted figure or character getting announced. But over the last few years, that has been happening with multiple lines at a rapid pace, and it’s been overwhelming. In 2026...

I want Professor Pyg, but not enough to preorder. I suspect (hope?) I'll be able to find him at retail.
