Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

Yeah, that likeness does look quite a bit like the actress that plays Teela. I honestly think all of the likenesses are good to decent. the only one that feels wrong is as people have said, Evil Lyn. The flesh tone and the no expression blank face all make the sculpt look very bland and doesn't capture the look/likeness, features, or beauty of the actress who plays her.

Also, hearing all this about Damian cumming, turning his bust thrust to full throttle got me thinking.......is that why it snowed so much hear today? was that........was that snow?
Agreed about Brie’s Evil Lyn figure. I think the likeness is accurate, but I’ve never seen Allison Brie that emotionless. Give her some characteristic, a sneer, a smirk.

I don’t think I’ve paid any attention to Camila Mendes, but after seeing her video with her figure, she’s got my attention. She is very attractive and hopefully will fill the Teela role well. That is not a damsel in distress, she’s arguably as important as He-Man himself.

I think I see more Daisy Ridley in the Teela figure, but to be fair, I'm not that familiar with Camila Mendes. The figures in the boxes look better than the ones out for display, I think, but maybe it's just me. Definitely not to Hasbro's level of face printing, but I guess they gotta start somewhere. Then again, likenesses are one of those things- some of the ones people think look terrible I think skew pretty close to the actor, and vice versa. I've always wondered if there's some science behind it....

Mattel is fully capable of doing likenesses, with or without face printing. They've had the WWE license for years, and have been doing likenesses accurate in sculpt and face print. There's no reason they couldn't do it here.

I don't know if it's still the case, but many companies used Gentle Giant for their scanning tech. GG has been working with Hasbro/Marvel forever.

I agree with others' assessments that these look better than I honestly expected. I don't need movie figures but might consider buying that Man at Arms as a palace guard if it ends up scaling ok with Masterverse. A unique character like Goat Man would likely get me to buy.

People on Facebook are looking at revelations battlecat and the new movie one side by side and arguing whether it’s a new mold.

Are they blind? It’s very obviously at least 90% or it is a brand new mold.

Oh, man, these do look rich! I'm in for a case or two if sold in cases. It would be great if Mattel see's a very positive reaction to these and say hey, let's do the previous live action DC movies. I would buy them all over again to get better likenesses and in a 1/12 scale.

New photos just went up of the packaged figures and might I just say how disappointed I am that Tri-Klops doesn't actually get a sword. I know it's a real minor thing, all things considered. But to me he's 'the sword guy' of the Evil Warriors. Bummed.

Good point about Tri-Clops and his sword.

If this line is true 1:12 (which is looking more and more likely), I doubt I’ll be getting any of them. Other than probably Battle Cat. I’m not really into movie lines anyway and especially not modern movies.

It will be interesting to see what Chronicles looks like after they’ve run through movie looks.

I wonder if these will be closer to Marvel Legends “1/12” (which is more like 1/11 these days) or true 1/12 like Black Series.

I loved MOTU as a kid, had quite a few figures, but I never really kept up on collecting this universe in my adult collecting years. When Origins came out I figured, "this will be my modern MOTU line". Picked up He-Man and Skeletor immediately, and for a little while I was grabbing the characters that interested me most like Orko and Scareglow. Unfortunately, when the prices for Origins went up, I peaced out. Just couldn't justify the cost for figures that weren't really interesting me enough compared to Legends or Star Wars TVC. I still get some when they are on super clearance every once in a great while.

When Masterverse came out I thought, "this will be my modern MOTU line". But when I saw them start showing up at my local stores, they looked terrible. The paint and sculpts just did not meet my expectations at all. I picked up the He-Man and Orko 2-pack on clearance (I'm a big Orko fan), and immediately sold the He-Man cuz it was honestly one of the worst looking action figures I had ever seen.

Last year I picked up Sy-Klone, and it impressed the hell out of me. He was one of my favorites as a kid, and this upgrade is so damn cool, it made me wish I had collected more Masterverse. But without a great looking He-Man at a decent price, the line is still a non-starter for me.

When the Vintage Collection was announced I thought, "this will be my modern MOTU line", and nearly bought Skeletor as soon as he went up for sale. But my previous experiences made me hesitate. There still isn't a damn He-Man out in Vintage Collection, as far as I'm aware, so once again, unfortunately a non-starter.

Which is just a very, very long-winded ramp-up to my feelings about this new Chronicles line, which is, "this will be my modern MOTU line". I don't really care much about the movie TBH, I'll probably see it despite my intense dislike of Leto, but that's not why I want these toys. I want them, and I mean ALL of them, because they look amazing. These designs are right up my alley and are pretty much exactly what I want from a MOTU line. The actor likenesses don't sway me one way or the other, as in my mind they are just what this version, this universe's version of these characters look like. That He-Man might look like the actor, but to me it just looks like He-Man.

Here's hoping they make an Orko!

This seems like a dry run for their DC collector line coming out at the end of this year/early next year. Most of the designs look ok, but those THIGH swivels on evil-lyn and teela are TRASH. Better off to stick to the likes of the standard thigh cut like on most masterveerse figures to match marvel legends, or hide the swivel some other way.
