NECA - General Thread

I do, yes. I actually framed the Universal Monster x TMNT flaps.
That was my original intention, framing the Friday the 13th figures and so on since they started doing this. I got pretty sore when they started putting "action figure" and such over the original artwork. LOL! Doesn't bother me so much anymore.

I keep the front flaps, the bottom credits flaps, and any other bespoke artwork on the box (like the “episode scenes” on the back or Ultimate toon Turtles) in a page protector in a binder (well three binders now) that I can flip through anytime I want to see the little reproduction posters or remember who sculpted my favorite figures.
I thought about doing this for the more singular films as well, but haven't gotten around to doing so.

So did NECA just give up on Horror-ween or what?
I'm guessing they didn't show much at NYCC *because* of Horrorween.

I think we're getting quite a few more surprises this month.
So did they just give up on this or what?

I say it every once in awhile, but times like this I can't help thinking it again: man, I miss Randy.

I think they're just spreading things out.

I finally got around to opening Red Death (Had it since Thur). That cape... My God! That thing is majestic. Don't think I realized how huge it is. I will need to figure how to use it in my display. I humorously thought about having him atop of my Lawgiver statue--the closest I think I have to simulating the scene in the film.

Speaking of Lon... I just watched He Who Gets Slapped. Great film and now another character I'd love to see from NECA. They might as well keep the insane clown-car rolling. He has so many fantastic expressions in the film and the image of an all black clown suit is pretty unique as opposed to the split B&W type.

Speaking of keeping the insane clown car rolling, since it entered the public domain last year I’m really surprised NECA hasn’t tried to sneak a Gwynplaine from “the Man Who Laughs” into their “Classic Universal Horror” line as a way to get to do an Ultimate Joker.

I was at Ross today and they had B&W Wolfman, B&W Dracula & King Kong for $17 to $20. I don't collect these but I thought would pass it along if they are good prices.
I've also seen the color versions of Frankenstein, Wolfman, King Kong, and Dracula at Ross. Also saw Evil Dead 1 Ash at one store, and the atomic beam Godzilla at another.

Had a dr. appointment today, so I decided before heading back to work to pop in and see what was on the shelves at a local Walmart, and I found the "clean" Art the Clown. He's cool, but has some QC issues the blood-soaked version didn't. Both have some paint-flaking issues, but it's way more prevalent on this one that bloody Art. I had one of the hands really flaking white paint everywhere when I did a swap, and it was literally the first time using that hand at all. His right leg was also stuck right when I removed him from the package, which is apparently common with this version, so I applied some heat to him before posing. I'm happy to have him in the collection, but I definitely feel I have to be a lot more careful with him than I do his sanguine counterpart. This one will probably hang out on my work desk until Halloween, but I'm not really doing all the hand and weapon swaps like I was with the other figure. It's a shame, because this guy would be a lot of fun to mess with when I'm on boring conference calls.

See I feel completely opposite. I picked up the clean version and haven't had any problems at all. I DID have to heat up the knees, but after that, he's been moving just fine. I've swapped the hands a number of times now too...mostly because I don't know how I want to leave him displayed. He just comes with a ton of shit. But yeah, no worries moving him around. He's really fun to stick into random parts of the collection.

My Walmart had A BUNCH of NECA stuff on clearance for $10 each yesterday. ET Elliot on Bike, American Werewolf in London Ultimate Nightmare Demon, Predator Prototype Suit, Ultimate Ash of Evil Dead, Living Mummy and more. I picked up 3 of the Demon, 2 Predators and 1 Ash figure. You might want to check your local Walmart's clearance section if any of these are of interest. Mine had like 20 of the ET&Elliot on the bike.

I've been seeing a lot of the Gargoyles, Monsters and King Kong stuff recently at Ross too. Those have always been in the $15-$20 range there, though.
