Masters of the Universe: Origins

I feel like these designer sets are a very limited run, which probably results in that heavier price tag. I don't NEED these, but James Jean's art is something I recognize instantly. I can't say the same for most of the designer stuff they've offered in the past. While I'm not his biggest fan, I surely appreciate his style and would really like to own both sets. However, if it sells out, I won't regret missing out. Dropping $200 on both sets is a big ask.

Yeah, I don't care about the art figures but I'm not mad about them. They're priced as -art- pieces, not as toys. You just gotta accept that. They're being made purely as collectible pieces of collab-art. And, I imagine, the artist wants a hefty check to be involved.
I think they're fucking dumb, though, so it's easy for me to brush it off as fairly priced.

$100 as artr pieces is more than I'm ready to spend but I think that's fair for what they are - they're a luxury item with a high-end artist attached to them. Figure if you were buying He-Man and Battle Cat standard issue full price you're probably looking at like 65 bucks or more, so 100 with the premium upcharge for Jean's work feels... acceptable.

If I could've had tghe pair for $150 I might've splurged cos I love when fine art creeps into pop like this, but I just dropped some scratch on the 200x line and I'm getting a lot of joy out of those so I'm good on Motu for now.

I guess, for me, I would find this collab way more potentially exciting if it were an actual art print where James Jean did some MOTU painting in his style. I'd buy that for 100 bucks for sure, without hesitation. 'We got JJ to help us design weird action figures you won't want to play with' does not hit for me the same way.

I didn't see anything else about this on this side of the forum but I saw the entire set Transformers x MOTU on Thursday at EB. Even I have my limits. But they look cool. Mostly.

I saw them the other week but I didn't realize it was newsworthy. Usually I'm the last person to see stuff. They had everyone. Which isn't surprising because they're OUTRAGEOUSLY priced. Even at 50% off I'd probably pass. Full price is -literally- insulting your customers.

Nothing wrong with liking the designs. I like the line, but not enough to want to pay anywhere near full price for them. Maybe if they somehow go under $10Cdn I would bite. I think the Megatron/Skeletor is the best of the four. Followed by Starscream/Scareglow, He-Man/Optimus and bringing up the rear Bumblebee/MAA.

Are they more than usual?

Oh, I just meant my limits on crossover and justifying Starscreams and Optimus versions. Scareglow was my favourite.

Yeah - like CP said, they're 50 bucks. Which, come on. I literally can't fathom coming to that price and not, at the very least, being deeply embarrassed to ask for that amount for what you're making. I would say Mattel is the most selfishly shameless company in the toy world, but Premium DNA and 4 Horsemen exist, so....

MAA-BB and Skele-Mega-Tor-Tron dropped down to around $10 after the holidays here, full price was $30. Heptimus and Star-Glow are on sale this week, 20% off, so around $24. I passed on this line as well as the TMNT crossover.

I didn't even know this was a thing, let alone that old.
